Werevelociraptors

Homebrew and House Rules

Originally posted on Reddit, but since I've been posting here because of the playtest, I figured I'd repost this here. Anyway, long story short, I felt cheated that wereraptors were based off birds of prey, not dinosaurs, so I did what any sane person would do and made a werevelociraptor.

Change Shape (Su)
All lycanthropes have three forms—a humanoid form, an animal form, and a hybrid form. Equipment does not meld with the new form between humanoid and hybrid form, but does between those forms and animal form. A natural lycanthrope can shift to any of its three alternate forms as a move-equivalent action. An afflicted lycanthrope can assume animal or hybrid form as a full-round action by making a DC 15 Constitution check, or humanoid form as a full-round action by making a DC 20 Constitution check. On nights when the full moon is visible, an afflicted lycanthrope gains a +5 morale bonus to Constitution checks made to assume animal or hybrid form, but a –5 penalty to Constitution checks made to assume humanoid form. An afflicted lycanthrope reverts to its humanoid form automatically with the next sunrise, or after 8 hours of rest, whichever comes first. A slain lycanthrope reverts to its humanoid form, although it remains dead.

Curse of Lycanthropy (Su)
A natural lycanthrope’s bite attack in animal or hybrid form infects a humanoid target with the lycanthropy curse (Fortitude DC 15 negates). If the victim’s size is not within one size category of the lycanthrope, this ability has no effect.

Lycanthropy- Type curse, injury; Save Fortitude DC 15 negates, Will DC 15 to avoid effects. Onset the next full moon; Frequency on the night of every full moon or whenever the target is injured. Effect target transforms into a velociraptor under the GM’s control until the next morning

Danger Sense (Ex)
Because the sample werevelociraptor is a 3rd level unchained rogue, it gains a +1 bonus on Reflex saves to avoid traps and a +1 dodge bonus to AC against attacks made by traps. In addition, it gains a +1 bonus on Perception checks to avoid being surprised by a foe.

Evasion (Ex)
Because the sample werevelociraptor is a 3rd level unchained rogue, if it succeeds at a Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, it instead takes no damage. This can only be used if it is wearing light armor or no armor. If the werevelociraptor is helpless, it does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Fast Stealth (Ex)
The sample werevelociraptor can move at full speed using the Stealth skill without penalty.

Fey-Quickened
The sample werevelociraptor gains a +2 racial bonus on initiative checks

Halfling Luck
The sample werevelociraptor gains a +1 racial bonus on all saving throws

Leaping Charge (Ex)
A velociraptor can jump while charging, allowing it to ignore difficult terrain when it charges. When a velociraptor makes a charge in this way, it deals double damage with its talons.

Lycanthropic Empathy (Ex)
In any form, natural lycanthropes can communicate and empathize with animals related to their animal form. They can use Diplomacy to alter such an animal’s attitude, and when so doing gain a +4 racial bonus on the check. Afflicted lycanthropes only gain this ability in animal or hybrid form.

Sneak Attack
Because the sample werevelociraptor is a 3rd level unchained rogue, it can use sneak attack as the rogue ability. It deals +2d6 precision damage on a successful sneak attack.

Trapfinding
Because the sample werevelociraptor is an unchained rogue, it can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

What with its 60' base speed your wereVR might find it useful to fight or sneak in animal form. Just saying.

Definitely an interesting concept.

One nitpick; halflings have a base speed of 20 feet normally. None of the example's rogue abilities increase base speed either. Does the werevelociraptor template confer a fast movement-like ability?

Fleet of foot alternate racial trait. It seemed wrong that it would be stuck with a 20 ft speed outside of velociraptor form.

Truly, you are doing God's work.
