Hey there all,
With any significant change in the rules, there is bound to be a reevaluation of elements to see how they can continue to function and fulfill their role within those rules. While we fundamentally want magic to fulfill a similar role to what it had in 1st ed, we have made changes that we felt appropriate to find a better balance point for magic in the game. Yes, you will find places where this breaks a few story considerations from 1st ed, just like you will with other mechanics. We are trying to limit those, but there will be some.
It is clear from the fervor in this thread and others, that not everyone agrees with the scope of these changes.
We will continue to evaluate the spells and their impact on the game, but at this point, with so many posts arguing semantics and taking partial quotes out of there deeper context, I do not feel that this thread is serving any purpose that was not served 400 posts ago.
Thank you for participating and giving your feedback.
