Character creation and sheet feedback

Playing the Game

Hi

Not sure the exact forum to post regarding making a character and the character sheet, but here goes. I just made my first character, an elf alchemist of 1 level. It took a bit of time as the alchemist is not the easiest to grok (2 hours going through everything). On to the feedback:

Character sheet

Very little space for equipment. All that is there is half a column. Lots of people like scouring through the general equipment and buying lots of little things.

A space for other stuff like where do I list low light vision? I used the bonus feat section. Maybe vision should have a small box somewhere? There is a small notes section but it is on the spells page which half the classes do not want.

The Armor class section doesn’t really have a place to add your armour. Weapons have a lot of details but Armor does not. I put the Armor bonus under item for now.

Where do you list miscellaneous actions? Things like quick alchemy?

The TEML thing is a bit of an eyesore. Maybe a box that just lists training?

Starting money feedback

I don’t think that 150 sps is enough. My alchemist could not afford thieves tools or a medicine kit despite being trained in these. I had to spend 60sp, 40% of my starting cash on an alchemy kit just so I can use my core class abilities. Seems a bit harsh. In the end all I could afford was:

Studded leather
Short bow & 20 arrows (backup for when I run out of bombs plus I like to use my elf weapon training)
Dagger
Rapier - if I am desperate
Alchemy tools
Backpack
And i have 10 sps left

I agree with this, the alchemy kit is just as vital to the class as the formula book alchemist gets free. For other classes, I think 150 sp is fine, an alchemist kit just seems like it should come with the alchemy class for free like the formula book. It doesn't seem like an alchemy kit is needed for advanced alchemy? I can't tell? but it's definitely needed for quick alchemy, which is also sort of confusing in terms of the hands needed. an alchemist kit needs two hands, but the quick alchemy needs a hand free. Anyway, these confusions are probably for another thread.

I'm most concerned with the space allotted in the sheet. Still considering the alchemist, there's an entire page for spells and powers, but no page for alchemical formulas. I'll also add to the concern with the lack of space for racial features, space for Armor names in the armor section so that doesn't take up the equipment space, and how much space the TMEL takes up on every line it's on. It's been mentioned on other threads that TMEL could have a single spot on the sheet, so those other lines would only need the one letter, or something. More lines for lore skills would be good, too. I do appreciate the space marked for skills that suffer armor penalties.

The character sheet is terrible. I still prefer landscape. There is not enough room for Equipment and no space for roleplaying details like height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc.

My complaint with character creation is that there is an awful lot of hopping around to fill in the various bits- bulk, proficiency bonuses, and size modifiers need to be in or around character creation. An example of a filled in character sheet would have been welcome.

The starting at 10 and applying bonuses method either blands a character out to a bunch of 12's and 14's or forces min/maxing, so I'll be sticking with rolling. That said, rolling abilities seems to be an afterthought and is very poorly integrated with the existent character generation descriptions, particularly in regards to ancestry and background.

Also, I am still not sure if 2H weapons get 1 1/2 Str bonuses or Small characters get bonuses to Stealth. That is only a couple of examples, but there are many fine details like that that are in need of clarification.

I love the silver piece-based economy.
