Android Solarian R / R Please

Advice

A relatively themed character that I wondered if I could get someone's input on.

Artificial Bipedal Soldier S/N: 0000 (ABS-0000... or Zero for short)
Icon Solarian

14/14/10/12/10/13

1. Theme Knowledge (Profession Soldier), Heavy Armor Prof.
2. Stellar Rush
3. Weapon Focus (Advanced Melee), Sidereal (Sense Motive/Intimidate)
4. Gravity Boost
5. Enhanced Resistance (Kinetic or Fire), Jet Dash

If it wasn't apparent, I'm modeling this character after Zero from MegaMan X. I don't know enough about what rolls Starfinder makes you roll to accurately presume skills however.

I see you were trying to go the whole laser sword route but me personally I don't see Zero as a Solarian. His powers just don't shout S"pace Knight".

Blitz Soldier.
16/16/11/12/10/8
Some elemental gear boost
Plasma Sword
Light armor
Step Up

Just how I view him. Yours is a good build (jumpjets definitely) but I am not seeing Zero.

Is this an Android? I hope it's an Android. I largely agree with Farlanghn.

Android Blitz Soldier
S18 (Primary)
D15
C10
I12

C08

Gear Boost (L3): Melee Striker

Feats:

2. Fleet
3. Jet Dash
4. Improved Initiative
5. Enhanced Resistance (Kinetic) or Climbing Master

Skills:
Acrobatics
Athletics
Computers or Piloting, depending on your interpretation of Zero
Engineering
Perception

Equipment:
Tactical Doshko
Hidden Soldier Armor
Goal is Jump Jets (mountable both in the armor and in Zero himself)

Long John,
Re: The discrepancy between the two suggestions
Stats of 18 Str/14 Dex if you want for top form levels 1-4 & 10-14, 20.
Stats of 16 Str/16 Dex if you want top form levels 5-9, 15-19.

For mainly melee (as opposed to switch hitter) I prefer the former already because attack rolls are hard to boost, and prefer it even more if wearing wearing heavy armor where your Dex AC might get capped.

Your Solarian build has average offense (which is okay) and solid defense, but little resilience (due to low Resolve). You'd need to travel with a Mystic or Envoy w/ Inspiring Boost to avoid burning Healing Serums just to stay active alongside your peers.
Since the Solarian's main advantages over Soldier are mobility (which puts you at risk away from team) and self-healing (which needs Resolve) you'll have to play wisely to thrive. If alongside other melee, or just playing guard to keep enemies off of your team, this won't be so rough.

As for skills, your modest Dex w/ max BAB means you might end up gunner on any starship, but if surrounded by Dex PCs you might want Engineering.
The Solarian has lots of great skills, but modest skill points & a lame skill boost, so take what fits your "Zero" image and fill in the rest to patch up holes in your party's skill set. And Perception, definitely take that.
For Soldier, the skill list is more mediocre, but you can pick up some utility via Engineering or Survival. Again, look at your party's needs. The other classes have much more skill emphasis so will likely cover a lot more bases and do some of them a lot better, so your best route is to patch up the holes they might leave (if any) or play support by taking skills to aid them.

Zero's style is about rapid, multi-hit combos with his saber. I'm not seeing that in an unwieldy weapon like a doshko.

Sadly, there's a lack of one-handed energy swords till the skyfire sword at 7th level. If you're starting earlier than that, I see how a heavy armor Solarion would be the better match.

I would not drop Cha as low as 13 on a solarion. 2 resolve is just that painful. Str 14, Dex 13, Con 10, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 14 is about the best you can do with that race/class combo I'm afraid.

Edit: If this is a home game, ask the GM to homebrew some lower-level energy swords for your use.

So I know in the games Zero gets access to multiple weapons but his main weapon is a sword. Why go with an unwieldy Tactical Doshko?

As somebody more familiar with the MMZ games than the X series, I might go arcane assailant for the free flaming/frost/shock.

Tamato/tomato I was more looking at the extra speed and charge but either could work ^___^
