PFS - Ifrit Unchained Monk Build

Advice

Grand Lodge

I've been coming up with unique ideas for PFS characters using all the elemental touched races (Ifrit, Oread, Sylph, and Undine) and this is what I have come up with for an Ifrit.

Ifrit Monk:

Class: Unchained Monk (Scaled Fist)
Race: Ifrit
Alignment: Lawful Good

Str: 16
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 10
Wis: 8
Cha: 15

Alternate Racial Traits: Efreeti Magic, Fire in the Blood, Wildfire Heart

Traits: Honored Fist of the Society, Quain Martial Artist

Favored Class: +HP

Items:

Amulet of Mighty Fists +1 4000
Belt of Physical Perfection +2 16000
Boots of Speed 12000
Bracers of Armor +3 9000
Circlet of Persuasion 4500
Cloak of Resistance +3 9000
Demonic Smith's (or Deliquescent) Gloves 8000
Headband of Mental Prowess +2 (Wis, Cha) 10000
Monk's Robe 13000
Ring of protection +2 8000

1. Feat: Weapon Focus: Unarmed Strike
Bonus Feat: Dragon Style

2. Bonus Feat: Intimidating Prowess

3. Feat: Steadfast Personality

4. +1 Str

5. Style Strike: Flying Kick
Feat: Dragon Ferocity

6. Ki Power: Qinggong Power: Barkskin
Bonus Feat: Dazzling Display

7. Feat: Enforcer

8. Ki Power: Qinggong Power: Restoration, +1 Str

9. Feat: Shatter Defenses

10. Ki Power: Qinggong Power: Ki Leech
Bonus Feat: Medusa's Wrath

11. Feat: Improved Initiative

12. Draconic Breath, +1 Cha

If the numbers HeroLab is giving me are correct, he should be pretty strong.

+19/+19/+19/+14/+9 basic attack chain, 2d8+14 on first hit, 2d8+9 on the rest (+1d6 either acid or fire from gloves). He can also self enlarge 1/day for some extra damage and reach.

Once he gets up to higher levels he can start with his first hit being non-lethal to intimidate and debuff, triggering shatter defenses and 2 extra hits from Medusa's Wrath.

For an extra ki point add 1 more attack or 1d6 fire damage, or both for 2 ki.

Between Steadfast Personality and being an Outsider, he should be good to go in the weak will save department.

Then of course all the normal fun monk stuff...insane movement speed, flying kick, self restoration, etc.

Let me know what you think, if you spot any errors, etc.

No love for the Ifrit Monk eh?

Hi Slyme,
Thanks for posting up your ifrit monk I'm intrigued by your lack of Wisdom, why lose on AC if you don't have to have you managed to get CHA on your AC somehow?
I'm really want to find a cool elemental touched race build, preferably a martial as I have a divine and an arcane to date

Sovereign Court

Scaled Fist archetype uses Cha instead of Wis for class features.
Specifically:

Scaled Fist wrote:
Draconic Might : Any of the scaled fist’s class abilities that make calculations based on her Wisdom (including bonus feats with DCs or uses per day, such as Stunning Fist, but not Wisdom-based skills or Will saving throws) are instead based on her Charisma.

I didn't realise that unchained monks could use archetypes, I've not studied Pathfinder Unchained just flicking through now. I need to build a PFS character so I'll need to scour the rules to find something a bit special

Grand Lodge

I've just checked on Society Unchained and it says: The unchained monk does not qualify for any archetypes, save those in future publications that specifically cite their compatibility with the unchained monk class.
I'd better keep looking I think, cool idea though :)

There are actually a few archetypes made especially for the Unchained monk, and some that work with both the chained and unchained types.
Scaled Fist is one of them.

Chained Monk Scaled Fist

Unchained Monk Scaled Fist <- Here it is

So if you find the build interesting, it's definitely an option!

For an Efreet Scaled Fist, you could always take one level of Lore/Nature/Lunar Oracle and double up on CHA AC - it's two different types so it stacks. Then you can use the DEX bonus to go 7/9, and have a ton of focused ability in STR and CHA.

Grand Lodge

Yes, the Scaled Fist monk archetype from the Legacy of Dragons player companion specifically calls out being compatible with the unchained monk, and is legal for society play, per the Legacy of Dragons entry in the additional resources.

The build can be quite fun, I ended up making a PFS character using almost this build, just used a gnome instead...for personal amusement purposes :)
