I'm currently running WOTR and my players are just about to assault the Gray Garrison. Before character creation I told them the available options for races were the core races and 'maybe' a Aasimar. Somehow two of the players connived their way into playing Tieflings and its causing lots of issues with NPC reactions. I was thinking that when the event at the end of the module happens and they get infused with all the holy energy making them mythic, could it also 'cure' them of being Tieflings? Perhaps making them human or switching to Aasimar? Leaving their stats and abilities the same wouldn't be a problem and I could easily say its just a cosmetic change of their appearance. Any comments, advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Before even considering if this is a possibility, I'd be more curious/worried about the players' reaction to this change. I know if I was in their position, I would be fairly unhappy with such a development.
One of them I know likes fluid characters that change over the course of the story. The other kinda goes with the flow as well. Having characters change and become mutilated by force is a common thing in games we play with him as the DM. Having this come as a 'boon' from Ragathiel which they both worship I think will lessen the blow.

As someone who enjoys playing tieflings, I would be pissed if my GM ever forced an unwanted race change on me for any reason without even talking to me first. If you have problems with tieflings then you sort it out. They're a known race, they're not even rare among the Crusaders and are especially common in the Worldwound. This feels more like you're overplaying a universal racism that doesn't exist than anything else.
And this is ESPECIALLY true in Wrath of the Righteous.
If you talk to the players and they're fine with it, sure, have Ragathiel "purify" them, despite him being half devil and that being totally against his nature as he's more likely to inspire them to use their innate powers for good, but if my GMs forces that on me without warning I'd drop the game. I don't enjoy playing humans.

It's your table, but what you're suggesting goes against the themes of the AP. There's a certain demon (who Desril has picked as their avatar no less) who gets redeemed but isn't transformed into a different kind of outsider like angel or azata.
Playing a tiefling throughout the campaign is totally in character with the campaign's themes, no transformation needed. If it's still something you want to do, talk to the players beforehand and male sure they're okay with it.

Definitely have to agree with these two. As I said, were I in your players' place I'd be immensely upset at this idea, and it really doesn't jive with the way the campaign works. I'm not incredibly familiar with Ragathiel myself compared to some lore-buffs (my group usually doesn't play in Golarion), but I can't argue much with Desril's comment toward his nature or this seeming a bit out-of-character for him, going by what his Wiki information provides.

I think the tieflings facing prejudice and rising above it is a theme more in line with both the campaign and Ragathiel. He faced prejudice from the celestial host and proved himself able again and again, finally being able to be accepted among them.
That would mirror the PCs' arc. First they suffer prejudice, but after book 1 they basically are national (and religious) heroes. I think their example should go a long way towards making other tieflings more easily accepted by the crusaders and general society. "Did you hear that the heroes who killed those demon lords and closed the Worldwound were tieflings? I guess that means they are not born evil after all".

My main recommendation:
You told them no, then you slipped up by letting them do it anyway. You should have stuck to your guns. Running a game is a careful balancing act of being the guy in charge. It is kind of like being a parent, once you say no, then the answer is no.
You have, however, slipped up and let it happen...
My recommendation:
Downplay the Tiefling racism a little, just have NPCs stop caring so much about it. At the end of the day the Tiefling is just a race like any other anyway. They are native outsiders. They make their own choices and most higher level characters are going to accept that.
