Sigh, our AP session on December 6 got postponed to 20th because two players have other obligations. That means I will be lvl 3 at December 20th.
I do not mind if you also do that one without me, can't ask you to wait for another 2 weeks.
DM Kludde |
Fine to join. I’ll move the start forward if we don’t have to wait until the sixth

Hiya GM and everyone! Still new to Starfinder so I have a couple questions regarding boons, and reputation.
1.My first question is can you slot more than one faction boon at once?
2.I've played Fugitive on the Red Planet with Harec. At the bottom of the chronicle I noticed 3 spots for reputation and one for infamy. I slotted the free Exo-guardian champion boon...So that means I should have gained reputation if there was any to be had correct? Do the players fill this out? How is it tracked? (should I get back with GM shifty and ask him about this?)
3. What is Infamy?
4. Reputation appears to be how we move up tiers in our chosen faction. This enables us to buy better faction boons correct? what else is reputation good for?
5. It appears you can buy the xxx faction champion boon. For factions other than your own..why would you bother?
6. I want to purchase a boon with one of my Fame (Basic hireling boon) I went ahead and listed it on my profile..can the GM just take the 1 fame off the chronicle sheet on this scenario? Or should I go back and ask GM shifty to adjust (the reporting) the last scenario?
Feel free to answer any of these questions if you know the answer (even if you're not the GM)
Anyway look forward to playing with you all!
PS. If you want to get a look at what I mean on Harec's Red Planet chronicle..there's a link to his Google docs folder on his profile page. or I can just list here Harec Really curious to how much reputation I have..
GM Aerondor |
You only have one faction boon slotted at a time. But some scenarios can give faction points for factions other than the one you have slotted.
The section at the bottom you should have the totals for all your faction reputation, the first number is what it is at the start of the scenario, the second after it.
For factions where you don't have anything, there is no need to fill it in.
Of course I could be wrong about this, but that is how I have been filling them in for the games I've GMed
Shifty |
1: What Aero said.
2: The player tracks their totals down the bottom.
3: Infamy is what is effectively an alignment infraction. These are now tracked. It's a tool to prevent murderhoboism. In one scenario, it is particularly called out if the players do certain things.
4: Correct, its to unlock cooler things within factions pretty much, and eventually a Diplomacy bonus when dealing with members of that faction.
5: Because you can build up rep etc with multiple factions, indeed you can max out a faction relatively early in your career - so why not? :P
6: Fame spent is a players tracking requirement and doesn't require the GM initial, but the purchase should be tracked on your inventory tracking sheet. When it comes to chronicles, the bits in the little grey boxes are GM ones (awarding credits etc) the ones in the white areas with no 'gm initial' box are more the players admin.

Awesome thx GMs Eric,Shfty, and Aerondor! answered all my questions!
I take it I can use a Pathfinder inventory tracking sheet no problem...or is there a specific Starfinder one? Either way I'll make one out strait away...scan it and put it in my (shared) Google drive folder for this character.
Thx again GMs!
Magabeus |
My Inventory Tracking Sheet, feel free to copy it
As for tracking reputation, it should be filled like this
Wayfinders 0 | 2
With 0 being the reputation at the start of the scenario and 2 the reputation after. You expend Fame, not Reputation to purchase boons.
You might want to buy another faction champion if you want to work for two factions. 2 of my 4 characters have picked up an extra faction champion:
My solarian because he sees that both wayfinders and exo-guardians have a case, one tries to befriend aliens while the other wants to fight them. He thinks that one should be able to switch between these two approaches.
My xeno-druid because he wants to get all the data that is out there in the vast on the swarm. Therefore he wants to get in favor of both exoguardians and dataphiles.
Magabeus |
GM, can you remove me from the player list for 1-06? Thanks!

Done!

@Revvy and Magabeus: No worries about missing 1-06, I might just do a rerun of it by the time you two are up to speed.

I don't have anyone at level 3 yet for 1-6; And I'm probably still a week off having a character free for 1-4 :-(
GM Aerondor |
I'm trying to avoid pregens, they never feel quite the same as running my own characters, and level three never takes especially long.
_Experiment Three-Two-Two |
But Claim you have to use the pregens don't you?
I know they are standard characters. Some of my all time favorite experiences have been with pregens customized to the scenario. 322 and Shohaj take some bows.

It's getting hard for me to keep track of who has played what, and who is available for what. At the risk of recreating an inferior version of Simon's Adventure tracker, I've created a spreadsheet here (link)
Since my goal is to run you through all scenarios available (or at least give you the opportunity to play), could please fill out whether you've played (or are playing, planning to play) a scenario (that would an 'X'), whether you could start a game right now (or when it comes out, obviously) should I offer it for a run (that would an 'A'), or whether you would want to play it at some later point (that would be a 'W').
I've already tries to piece together some info - please amend if you feel it's incorrect. I haven't added AP1 or the quests.

Harec's slotted boons:
Slotless: Welcome to Starfinder (tattoo)
Faction: Exo-champion guardian
Social: AbadarCorp Acquaintance (respect)
Ally: Basic Hireling access (set 4)
Moktargarn |
Mok's slotted boons:
Faction: Exo-Guardian Champion
Slotless: True Savior of Tasch 0/5
Nothing else yet, because my 1-02 session isn't showing up yet and frankly I have no idea what to choose.
Glitch-702 |
I'd slot boons, but I still don't really understand the system for boons in sfs yet, so not sure what to do.

You defeated the dreaded Besmaran pirate ship, Lawblight, showcasing your determination during an intense starship combat. This boon activates anytime your starship is reduced to 0 or fewer Hull Points. Your starship immediately regains a number of Hull Points equal to its tier × 5. A starship can never regain more than 30 Hull Points in this manner. A starship can never have more than one of these boons attached to it. When this boon activates, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.
By assisting various factions of the Starfinder Society, you have proven yourself as a dependable asset. By slotting this boon, if you would fail to earn Fame at the end of an adventure by failing to fulfill a success condition, you can check one of the boxes on this boon. Doing so reminds your current championed faction of your past exploits, and you still earn 1 Reputation (but no Fame) with that faction as if you had successfully fulfilled the condition. You can use this boon only if you would also gain at least 1 XP for completing the adventure.
Having met the amalgam of intelligences known as Guidance, you have successfully completed your induction into the Starfinder Society. The Society offered you a subdermal implant as part of your commencement. You receive this augmentation for free. If you declined to receive the augmentation, cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.

This implant rests underneath the skin of the palm of one hand, or at the end of a tentacle or similar appendage in species that lack hands. The augmentation can be activated or deactivated mentally as a swift action. Activating the implant causes a rendition of the Starfinder Society’s symbol to glow underneath the skin. This augmentation acts as a mark, letting others know you are a member of the Starfinder Society. It also increases the light level within 5 feet by one step while active.
Venture-Captain Arvin presented you with a commemorative insignia in gratitude for your services to the Starfinder Society. Although it appears to be an ordinary medal showing the symbol of the Starfinder Society, this insignia can store as much information as a common tier-1 datapad. Unless told about this secret, a non-Starfinder must succeed at a DC 20 Perception or Sense Motive check to realize the insignia is a storage device. This insignia is worth 0 credits and cannot be sold.

During your commencement missions, you had the chance to pick up your own copy of the latest album from sugar-pop sensation Strawberry Machine Cake. This album is already a Pact Worlds hit and has quadrupled in price. You can resell the album for 200 credits prior to the start of your next adventure. If you sell the album, cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet. Alternatively, you can decide to keep the album, which might somehow prove useful in the future.

@Glitch-702 re. Boons
• you get various boons from the Chronicle Sheets of the scenarios you played.
For example: "Star Sugar Heartlove!!! (Slotless Boon; Limited Use)" is a boon that you get if you do something during a scenario
• you can also get boons by purchasing them (sometimes this "purchase" is free) and you can find the list of those in the SFS Guide.
For example: "Faction Slotted: Exo-champion guardian" is a boon that lets you put the acquired Fame & Rep' towards a faction. You get one of your choice (among the factions) at creation for free, and can purchase the next ones.
All this will constitute the list of boons you have.
Then, normally after the mission briefing in the scenario, you decide which boons to slot.
Each boon has a "tag" (Faction, Ally, Social, Starship... Slotless).
In general you can only slot one of each type.
If you have two Starship boons, you must decide which you slot.
Slotting means you choose to have it up for use during the scenario (and the ones you do not slot cannot be used).
Slotless boons can all be slotted since they have no specific slot, thus not the 1 per slot requirement.
Glitch-702 |
I'm a little overwhelmed by the whole process, and can see it will get difficult to keep track of them in short order... still... here's what I have so far.
Factions Friend (social)
Marked FIeld Agent (slotless)
Star Sugar Heartlove (slotless)
True Savior of Tasch (slotless)
Exo-Champion Guardian (faction)
I think that's all I have.
Magabeus |
In my opinion slotless do not need to be slotted, they are in effect always. Otherwise we would also need to specify that we slot Basic Purchasing Plan at the start of each session for the opportunity to use it if needed

Also, we seem to be having some trouble getting that high-tier table together. I only have three players now. Anyone want to jump in with a pre-gen? If not, I suggest we wait until Magabeus is available (Dec 20, right?), and maybe also until Shifty is back.

I am fine going whenever is best for you, now if someone comes with a pre-gen', later in December.

sorry if I'm slow posting the last few days and the next few as well... We are suffering from high winds and surrounded by fires in all directions. Constant power outages from the winds and service outages from both power problems and the fires are playing hell with my connection. I will post as I can, but please bot me if necessary.. thanks.

Dec 20 is indeed our next planned session and I know I will push them on to finish the first part of the AP. Current signals are that the game is on.
