Combat Maneuvers

Rules Questions

Okay so first of all apologies if this has been answered already, but I've got a few quick questions about combat maneuvers.

1) Can melee weapons be used in combination with combat maneuvers? For example, I know some weapons have the disarm trait which gives a bonus to disarm attempts, but what about just a tactical knife?

2) If so, does weapon focus apply to the disarm attempt too?

3) If weapons can be used in disarm attempts, does the operative weapon trait apply?

I haven't checked the exact rules, but I'd be inclined to go "yes" to all three. Provided, natch, that the weapon in question could logically be used to do the maneuver ( ie, trying to use a sword to Grab someone would take some convincing, to say the least ).

Funny you mention that, grapple is the one time where I've found that the maneuver explicitly states you need a free hand.

Noting that you still need to fulfill the requirements of each combat maneuver (such as grapple's requirement that you have a hand free):
1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) If you mean "If I use a tactical knife--an operative weapon--to attempt a disarm combat maneuver, can I add my Dexterity to the attack roll to perform the maneuver rather than my Strength?" then the answer is yes.

Outstanding, thank you for the clarification!

So an operative has to have a hand free and a knife out if they want to grapple someone with a Dexterity Attack then?

No, they could also have a baton.

True enough.

Also true: Skittermanders are still the best at hugging.
