except when you're an intruder caught by the eunuch guards...
As for remembering my last death... no, I don't remember the death of my most recent incarnation.
As for the one incarnation I remember, I've never been through his death, I suspect he's veeeery long lived, or possibly immortal
As for my most recent character death... it's been a long time that I've not had a character die on me... I think it was a warlock who got turned on by the party's frenzied berserker that had been possessed by a ghost... he later got reincarnated as a dwarf anyway.

It was the last train out of Perry, Montana (a place that doesn't exist anymore), somewhat near the Missoula area. I had found out that there was a boxcar loaded with gold and only a few guards. No one was supposed to know about this shipment which was why it was unmanned as it were. I had been robbing trains for eleven years. I had a strong horse and another staged just near where I was going to stop the train. All in all, I would have made one of the biggest scores of my calling.
I had a quick skirmish with two of the guards and dropped them easily. They took their shots alright, but they must have been untrained in firefights while in motion. And I don't mean to brag but I had been doing this for eleven years. Anyhow, so I get the train stopped and I have the Conductor properly frightened. I knew there was a third guard so I start giving my speech, you know, "No one needs to get hurt...return to your loved ones," that kind of thing. Sure enough, a guard emerges with a rifle held over his head and there's a woman with him. I tell him to step off the train and for the woman to fetch some rope.
He hands the woman the rifle and he climbs down the rungs to the ground. I kid you not, she lifts the rifle and puts one in my chest. I remember thinking how prim and dainty she looked as she chambered another round. I tried to say "stop", but she put a second one in my chest. I don't remember any pain...instead, I just felt exhausted. As I closed my eyes to sleep the last thing I heard was "Damn fine shootin' there, Marybell..."
