I do not know if this is already in the works but it is very hard to read through the Starfinder rule book on my tablet. I was hoping for a lite version of it like there is for the Pathfinder core rulebook as well as some of the other books.
Hopefully this is already in the works but if not I really would love the option.

There is not, from what's been said the Book is set up differently than other Hardcovers, so there's nothing to strip out or change to make it a lite version.
I think you are a little confused by my request. In the Pathfinder lite PDFs they stripped out all of the background images were removed making the PDF much smaller in overall size and easier to scroll through the pages on my tablet without having to wait for the page to load.

Nope that's exactly what I thought you meant :3

Have you tried simple compression? This will get your PDF down to under 35MB (from that ridiculous 145 or whatever it was...). It's what I did to make mine more easy to handle...and I just did it online here:

There are numerous and sundry other available ways to do the same thing. I am not affiliated with this service.
Don't know if this will help your tablet better handle the document. FWIW.

Chris Lambertz says no lite version
Hey Folks, the purpose of our Lite PDFs is not to reduce overall filesize, but to improve the graphics performance within the PDF. As the Starfinder Core Rulebook does not utilize as intensive of resources in its layout, there are no artifacts for us to strip. Additionally, the layout itself does not lend itself to being downsampled in an elegant way to get across the look and feel of the brand.

I gave this a try. Using the maximum compression, it reduces the file size to 20 MB.
There are two types of page loading.
The first is sliding from one page to the next. As you slide quickly though pages and stop, the page you're on has to render. The more graphics on the page, the longer the render time. The quicker you pass page-by-page, the longer the render time. I notice no difference between the full version and the compressed version.
The second is jumping from one page to a random page elsewhere in the book. When I jump, the page is blank and it takes 0.5-1 second (determined by feel) to render. The compressed version seems to be slightly faster.
