Manifestations vs Spells and SLAs

Rules Questions

10 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Does the manifestation of a spell give away the location of an invisible caster down to the occupied square?

FAQ this please.

I think that Paizo needs some time to let the ramifications of the new classes sink in.

And, I think this warrants far more consideration than just an FAQ.

Things to be considered:

a). Dominate / Charm effects
b). Illusion effects (+4 if you have reason to think its magic)
c). Implications of non V/S/M casting.
d). Comparisons of stealth pickpocketing vs magic pickpocketing.
e). How are spellcraft checks justified
f). Options for stealthy casting
g). Bard fascination, suggestions etc.
h). Caster's customizing their manifestations - like signatures as an advantage/disadvantage.
i. Can their be residual traces of manifestation that a psychic can read the aura of? Can detect magic / read magic detect these.
j). Rules for Psychic fingerprints/footprints
k). Rules about manifestations across planes.
l). Implications in pfs/mods.

I think it calls for a new rule book.

They are not going to do all of that.

I think they will rule that the invisible caster's location is not given away, but they definitely didn't word that FAQ well.

Hopefully they also say that you the spell can not be spellcrafted. I asked that in my other post.

I don't think they will rule for awhile.
I don't think they will see a need to clarify. The rules as written haven't been changed.

I think the clear intent is to deal with psychic casters, and the need to allow spellcrafting against those will carry the day and overlap into other areas.
