For those who have posted backstories tying them to Heldren in one way or another, I will be posting intro hooks in Gameplay. Most likely start tomorrow night.
No pressure, as we won't be starting in earnest until after GenCon so that Big Joe won't miss much. Instead, these will give you a chance to roleplay, interact with each other in-character, and get a sense of what Heldren has to offer.
Check them out as you want to.

Ruso Haldren |

Ruso is a relatively go lucky kind of chap. He has a good heart and a noise of mischief according to his folks. He has only been back in town a year but the locals say they can see how he changed while he was away.
He plies his time as an apprentice barber and a locksmith for hire but he tells folks he still dreams of being a traveller and that he will one day get to truly see what this world.
You tend to find that if you can get away with minor things it only tends to embolden you to try your hand at either more advanced mischief or in Ruso's case petty crime. Or as he saw it making do in a world where the haves lord and hoard their wealth while the common man is forced to just get by. This of course just would not do.
So it was that Ruso left Heldren for a time. He ventured north to try his hand in the bigger towns and cities of Taldor. Unfortunately he was not as good as others at the finer arts of his chosen craft and soon found himself on the run from the law. This is what led him to return to Heldren and take up an apprenticeship with the local barber and to also offer his services as a locksmith. Besides it gave him an excuse to keep his knives sharp and let him practice his craft in the relative safety of home.
Ruso does yet yearn to travel once more and to ply his craft on a larger stage. Perhaps on day even become a dashing character of legend for having pulled off a heist of historic value.

Skyne's character sheet is finished, though I'll probably make some changes to the equipment before we get started. Will make a separate alias for the familiar, then work on backstory.
The rough outline is that he's going to be exiled nobility from one of the northern countries, and has mostly been raised in mines and lumber camps, always staying on the move.

Irina Miklos |

Irina is a short curvy woman who has black hair and with a white streak in it that appeared when she turned thirteen. She wears the colorful clothing of her Varisian heritage. Irina has a arctic fox familiar named Koude who follows her, but stays out of the common room of the Stoat.
Her family sold her at the age of thirteen to the witch. She found the training to severe and the pettiness and treachery of the witch was something Irina could not take. She ran from the apprenticeship and headed south. She made her living by working in inns as a server. She wandered for several years finally found her way to Heldren.
She met Old Mother Theodora her first day in Heldren. Irina recognized another witch in the old woman and decided to stay in town to learn what she could from her. She’s been in town for the last three years.
She met Jack Forrester not long after started working at the Silver Stoat. She enjoys talking to him when he comes to the Stoat which isn’t often. He’s a calming influence on her, and he keeps some of the locals from giving her a hard time for being a witch. She’s a follower of Calistra, and a barmaid. That’ doesn’t mean she’s a sure thing. Some of the young farmers in town don’t understand that treating her like a lady would go further than asking how much.

I think Skyne was our last character to be developed. Looks like he is technically sound, but still need a backstory.
I was also waiting to hear if Jack Forrester was complete, the last post I saw said you were still working on feats, equipment etc.
There are a few intro posts up in Gameplay, so feel free to peek over there. We will start in earnest after GenCon ends but feel free to read through the intro material and interact with the town and its inhabitants.
