Casting the NPCs

Curse of the Crimson Throne

I have been listening to a lot of the Glass Cannon podcast recently and one thing they do a lot for fun is to cast famous actors as the PCs and key NPCs

I find this fun and seems to help capture the imagination of the players.

Does anyone who has run this path have any clear vision in their minds for any of the key NPCs.

I have been struck with David Bradley (Walder Frey from Game of Thrones, Filch from Harry Potter) as Gaedren Lamm

I haven't though much further ahead.
Perhaps Emma Stone or Sophie Turner for Ileosa (seem a bit stuck on game of thrones at the moment)

I thought it would be fun to hear what other GMs / players envisaged...

One thing, I understand, is already set in stone for many players and GMs who saw the art of Dr. Reinar - he is Nicolas Cage.

I'm actually gearing up to run this AP, as my Runelords game approaches an end, and I've been thinking about this myself. One thing that helped me personalize Karzoug is that there was a thread on that forum about "who would play whom in the Runelords film," and I settled early on casting Christopher Lee as the Claimer. After reading his taunts to the PCs and hearing Lee's deep voice mocking them, I was sold on that.

Naturally, I wanted to do the same here, but I've been having a problem finding a suitable person to base Ileosa's voice on. The first character that comes to mind for her is Circe Lannister, but as talented as Lena Headey is, the only distinct things about her portrayal there is that Circe's voice is "cold and British." I'm guessing I was looking for something meatier to grab ahold of, but unless I can find someone else, I think that's the direction that voice is heading.

Jolistina Susperio is very clearly voiced by Tara Strong voicing Harley Quinn, which means Rolth will probably end up with Mark Hamill's Joker voice.

Well I can see where Cersei comes from as the story does kind of parallel Game of Thrones (first book only) -

King Eodred - Robert

Ileosa - Cersei

(Sensechal whose name escapes me) - Ned Stark (different outcome here)

Venster - Tyrion (but murdered in this version)

Korvosa - King's Landing (I believe it has two hills or something, whereas KL is built on three I think)

Conquerer's Bay - Blackwater bay

Scarred and masked guards - this comes in later

As for the voices most evil queen voices are likely to be cold and British. I can't think of many other evil queens in film that don't fit this

Just started running this AP, so have also been thinking about this. Only done one session so far, so am focusing on characters in Edge of Anarchy.

Castings in my head so far are something like this. Mostly British contingent of actors, since I'm a Brit, I guess, and I find it weird thinking of royalty and nobles with American accents...

Illeosa: Billie Piper (Rose from Doctor Who)
Grau Soldado: James McAvoy
Gaedren Lamm: Patrick Stewart
Marcus Endrin: Richard Armitage (Thorin in The Hobbit)
Laori Vaus: Eve Myles (Gwen from Torchwood)
Zellara: Cate Blanchett
Verik Vancaskerkin: Will Poulter
Trinia Sabor: A very young Ellen Degeneres

The character I'm most struggling with is Cressida Croft. She's got such a big role to play in the early adventures, but I can't quite figure out her personality...

so many spoilers:
The only one I've really thought of so far is Anthony Hopkins for Vencarlo. It's a bit on the nose but if it's not right, I don't know what is.

I was actually going to parody the voice of Roz from Geeklys Drunks and Dragons for Ileosa next time they see her. Seems appropriate given they were both not what they seemed at first and the French Canadian accent should be different than anything else that comes up. Plus it will keep them on the innocent queen side longer hopefully.

Oh, and Devargo is Michael Wincott (gravelly voiced guy from The Crow, Count of Monte Cristo etc)

What are the spoiler rules on the adventure path forums? Is it the sticky ones only that are open?

Spoiler:
I agree on the Vencarlo. But as you say it is on the nose.
If I say that is what he looks like and then a few sessions after have Blackjack appear then it spoils things

That said if the PCs assume they have already met Blackjack, how many options are they likely to have:

- Vencarlo
- Grau

Are the only ones I can think of as written

I feel like I need to add more options to confuse matters.

Perhaps introducing Marcus Endrin early might give another option. And since Cressida seems keen on keeping Trinia safe so she could be an option

Are there any others?

I showed them the pictures from the books and portrayed him as aristocratic and charming with plenty of street cred due to his being the head of the school. They all liked him and want to go take lessons and see him again.

They also heard rumors about the other guy but no one seems to be trying to link the two yet.
