Thanks, Crystal! I'll take a look at it. I just brushed my teeth after finally eating breakfast (It's noon here), so brushing my hair is on the list. I have pretty long hair and it's naturally curly so it tangles in my sleep and I sometimes dread doing that chore.. lol. Sure, I could have it cut shorter, but I like it too much the way it is. I have taken a walk today (with my dogs) so that's one of those crossed off the list (I'll undoubtedly take more with them as the day progresses).

I'm sorry to hear that you are still feeling ill, Kjeldorn, and that you're feeling a bit down today, Cal.
I wish I could do something to cheer you up but I suck at it.

Right now I am making some job cleaning the inventory of my RoW party to prepare for retaking the characters for a short story. I'm really glad to be able to play again with some of my favorite characters of all time!

Thanks, Kileanna. You're always so cheerful that you could probably help lift some of the depression should we be hanging out.

Which AP is RoW? I don't play any of the APs, but sometimes the abbreviations for them leave me totally in the dark.

Reign of Winter. :-)

Thanks!

It's really good, definitely in my top three (Iron Gods, Skull and Shackles, Reign of Winter).

I've never ever been any good at running modules, so I'd not be able to justify spending the money on them and APs. I know from reading the boards that Paizo produces excellent work where these are concerned, and sometimes I wish I could run modules. But my group is so used to my 25 year old homebrew world they even have a hard time playing in a module. A friend ran us on one (I never learned the name of it) and it just didn't have the right feel, though it was a fun adventure. I wish we could've finished it.

I loved GMing S&S, it's 100% my style (and I don't like pirates!). I finished GMing it less than a month ago and it was probably one of my 2 best GMing experiencies ever. I'm writing the campaign journal right now if you want to check out my crappy English xD.

S&S has a lot of roleplaying, many situations that are not solved in combat and some really interesting characters.

RoW is thematically great but it's very railroady. As Dalindra did great in eliminating the railroads and creating some aditional storylines that were great, it was of my greatest gaming experiences ever too. Kileanna is my RoW character and I have loved playing her both RP wise and mechanics wise. So I asked Dalindra to GM something new to RoW characters and now he's into it. I am so excited!

I might write RoW story after I am done with S&S.

There used to be a site called "Chore Wars"

{well dang, there still IS a site called Chore Wars}

It lets you gamify your life by creating rewards and level ups for doing mundane household stuff. Initially designed to get kids to do their chores, I re-purposed it to get through deep depression days: points for brushing your teeth, combing your hair, taking a shower, leaving the house for a short walk

Not a bad suggestion, it might be something that I'll look into, as I'm always looking for ways to make my days more manageable, especially when depression makes, even the most mundane task, seem like an insurmountable challenge.

DungeonmasterCal wrote:
I understand the dragging around bit. I'm not sick like you are, but my depression is really, really bad today and I can barely function. That's why I'm just lurking on the boards and commenting from time to time. It's all I can manage to do.

Yea, depression is one of those things, you wouldn't wish anyone would have to deal with. The last couple of years, it has cost me around 40-45 day a year, where I could do almost nothing. Even the most rudimentary things like taking care of your self (bathing, shaving and the like) seemed like things, that would require an herculean effort to accomplish. This happens even though I'm on my anti-depressants, which unfortunately tiggers my other problem. When I'm this far down the hole, drinking until I fall asleep suddenly becomes a much more enticing option, as I am beyond feeling anything at all if I'm asleep.

And that is, to put it as shortly as possible, how my life has been like for around 13 years now. But please, while I do greatly appreciate the support I have seen here, I would prefer people not pitying me. Because ultimately, I know that there are other people out there, much more deserving of peoples time and support.

Now excuse me, a moment, while I take some time to get emotionally leveled out.

I was very sick for a time before my grandparents died. I was depressed, overwhelmed and felt useless and worthless. I didn't have any strength as I weighed just 40 kilograms and cried for everything. I am now fine but I know how it's being depressed like. Fortunately for me I recovered when I decided to put some distance with some toxic elements on my life. But I realize how hard it is when you feel like that.

Hey, Kjeldorn. Feeling any better today?

Nah-yea, still feeling pretty terrible, but not quite as bad as yesterday.

How about you? Everything treating you well?

Hey, Cal. Sorry to hear that you're feeling down today. I'll listen if you want to PM me about it. And don't worry about running AP's or Modules. If your players are fine with your Homebrew, stay with it.

Thanks, John. It's just my bipolar acting up..or down as the case may be. I'll be fine in a day or three. There's nothing really causing it that's worth talking about; it's just a part of my life. It's very kind of you to offer an ear, though!

No problem. Everyone here is like family to me. What kind of person would I be if I didn't care?

Exactly. I feel the same about several members of the boards. I've come to trust, care about, and respect many of the posters I've met here.

I really enjoy talking to many of the people here. Most of you are really nice people. Even some of those that I haven't known for a long time.

Feeling a bit tired right now, but I'm well otherwise. I may take an afternoon nap in a bit.

Just got back from the store, doing supplementary shopping. Picked up the new issue of Otaku USA. Going to see if there's any new anime coming out that may interest me.

The issue was uninspiring. Oh, well. Going to bed soon. Good Night, everybody.

Good night, everyone! It's been a stone gas. As always, I'm DungeonmasterCal and in parting we wish you love, peace, and soooulll!

Hold you feel less terrible soon, Kjeldorn.

*hugs* for Cal. Depression sucks. Not really anything I can say to make that better. But you have people who care. So that doesn't suck. :)

Tonight I tried a new recipe. Kale mash. It was basically mashed potatoes, but the potatoes were cooked with a bunch of kale, and then added bacon after they were mashed. It was delicious. I don't usually like mashed potatoes, but the addition of the kale added enough flavor that I didn't feel like I was eating paste. :)

I've been depressed for two decades, but I'm highly functional, so most people don't believe it. It's not a great way to be.

I made poutine tonight. It's not nearly as good as the proper kind, but it's decent.

I used to get seasonal depression but i've cut off football and now two years later, it's almost entirely gone. :-)

This is what happens when I leave for a day... 30+ new posts...

I've had depression since I was 14. I take medication to control it, and that works well. But last year I had some problems with dosage and drug interaction that got ugly fast. Glad I've got the correct dosage now. Depression is truly insidious. The worse it gets, the less energy and ability to care I have so the less likely I am to actually go get the help I need. Add in the troubles with anxiety and it gets real fun. :/
Because of course my mental health would be as messed up as my physical health. Balance! :P

I also got a new cookbook this weekend. Yay, new recipes! My family gets bored of the same old food very quickly, so I feel like I'm in a constant race to find new recipes before they start refusing to eat all of the old ones. :)

I suspect the spicy octopus. Sorry, Kileanna, but I had to say it. Eating mini-Cthulhu must be a bad idea. Even with delicious spicy seasoning.

Not me! I don't like seafood all that much. But, I do get sad now and then, for reasons that are well known for this crowd.

I'm up right now because some moron nearby has a powerful "spotlight", that he uses as a porch light, shining directly through my bedroom window.

:( I don't get a good morning... also a bb gun can handle a porch light with remarkable ease.

Those four live in Europe, But good morning to you too. :) That light is too far away for a BB gun to handle.

Sad; and their gonna notice a paintball.

Behold the power of spicy octopus!!!

This is not the best recipe I know but the only one I found in English.

You should submerge the octopus 3 times for 5 seconds in boiling water before cooking it so it doesn't lose the skin.

Cooking for 2 hours seems way too much (usually I cook it for 1 hour plus half an hour repose.

And you NEVER, NEVER add salt to the water. It is salted after cooking.

Also, hot red paprika should be combined with sweet paprika for the best results.

Insanity have it your way.
Sometimes you just have to break the rules.. And awaken from your ageless slumber to devour the mortals.
Wheres the unspeakable horror?
Come hungry leave on the edge of madness.

I should get into advertising I could do these all day.

I successfully made hibachi style rice with egg. It's not as good as a restaurant but it's pretty damn close so yay me!

Thanks ^w^

I messed up rice the first couple of times I tried to cook rice, and I hadn't tried this for fear of wasting eggs.

Um, let's see. First I boiled the rice. Then I put some canola oil in a skillet (I don't have a wok) and dropped in some eggs and let them kinda scramble. Was gonna use mushrooms too but they had gone mushy and slimy -_- Then I poured in the rice and added Soy and Teriyaki sauce and stirred like crazy until they were cooked nice and done.

Have to try that recipe. It sounds delicious. Damn, I already have to try to do too many things!

And Yay for you, Rysky!

Thankies :3

Try adding some sesame seeds and a little salt I always see those hibachi guys do that. I tried it with teriyaki once but I think i added it to soon and maybe to much cause it coated the rich making them hold together in little sticking mounds. Hmm any reason canola oil over alternatives or just what you had on hand?
