Bardic Pub Names

Gamer Life General Discussion

I am making my first campaign and I am stuck on what to call the main pub my party will be in. It will not be an inn and their will be no prostitution or anything. It is a Pub owned by a Bard and he will have his students playing all of the time so I want a name that goes along with that as well as alcohol. Anyone have some good ideas?

Here are some sources for pub names

Donjon Inn Generator

One question is "what kind of performances will occur?"

Is the bard an actor? A singer? A musician?

"Lager & Lutes"
"Beer & Roses"
"Songs, Strings, and Stout"

Scarab Sages

The Quirky Yrthak? The Yodeling Yrthak? The Yummy Yrthak?

[Something] Yrthak sounds good for what you're describing. It's appropriate heraldry for a Bard. An old issue of DRAGON magazine included a legend of how the first yrthaks might have originated from a mutated/cursed Bard (or something sort of like that).

Maybe "The Singing Pig"

The Seventh Sanctum generator came up with 'The Harpy's Alehouse' (among others) when I tried it. That might work for a bard.

Using an anagram of kinnikles we get Silken Ink. Names of places don't always have to be silly or related to the business's purpose. So Sud's-n-Songs, while a great name (I'm a fan of puns/tongue-in-cheek so I'm not one to talk), is out. And you can build a nice back story with the Silken Ink pub because adventures will definitely want to know why you called it that.

But you've already got plenty of great suggestions including those generators that CrystalSeas provided. So have fun.

Oh. And if you don't like the name of the pub, you're not stuck with it. It's your world so you could have it razed to the ground by Gnomes and brought up gloriously as a different name (under new management!).

"The Ivy Harp Public House."

I once used a tavern named , "The Harp and Spoon"

'Terpsichorean Muse'

There's a clothing store in my town called "The Bell and Sward" (Sward being another name for a green field of grass).
