Drelm Vaultkeeper has the power "... ([] You may automatically fulfill the requirements to temporarily close your location.)
What happens when you:
1) Have a closing location requirement of "Summon and defeat X"? Do you have to go through the act of summoning and defeating X or is it automatically closed without summoning? Some banes do have side effects even if you automatically defeat them.
2) Have a closing location requirement of "Summon and acquire X"? Do you have to go through the act of summon and acquiring X? If so, do side effect (if any) occur?
I'm assuming the answer to both questions is yes.

I had similar questions in regards to the WotR spell Terraform. Turned out it's pretty much what Hawkmoon says (surprise, I know).

I think you don't do anything other than say "I did that." You don't really summon anything.
Hum... usually I totally agree with the überimpressive-AI-previously-known-as-Hawk but I don't know why this one makes me wonder.
Would have been a no brainer if the power was written something like "you may automatocally temp close your location"
The fact that it says that the requirements are fullfilled let me think that "maybe" they indeed happen... so you would get to defeat/acquire...
Waiting for official clarification

So you mean do the character get the benefits of the closing. Like healing with club, or scouting by defeating banes etc.
Good question.
Unless by "heailing with club" you mean something else than "Defeat monster with Mokmurrian's Club" - I think it's pretty obvious that automatically "summon and defeat X" doesn't involve an Encounter and anything that would relate to/happen during it.
However, my reading of the current Drelm wording is: when you "automatically fulfill" a "summon and defeat X" condition - you have just auto-defeated a bane, with all resulting repercussions (such as bonus scouting, etc..)
(The same applies to the Terraform wording - "...that character automatically *succeeds*")
If this is not intended, maybe a better wording would be something like:
"When you attempt to temporarily close a location, you may close it automatically (instead of the normal requirement)"
The text in parenthesis would be ideal for clarity purposes, however even without it, this wording is overly verbose. So maybe this would be better addressed by a general Rulebook addendum. ("If a power allows you to automatically fulfill a location's closing requirement, ignore any consequences that would result from fulfilling the location's original closing requirement")
