Oddest race class combos.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I get a chance to run a one and done Nov in a friend of mines rotrl campaign. Its the opening session since this character wouldn't be there beyond first session or 2 he gave permission to run wild with it, so what's the strangest class and race combos you can think of?

I played a dwarf blackblade magus with a waraxe and adamantine armor. He was awesome.

A halfling dexterity-based paladin sounds interesting.

He guy don't have to be super useful. Dwarf magus sounds cool though. Mainly what races would you normally not pair with a class.

Orc Witch? It actually sets you up for a surprisingly good martial build with scarred witch doctor.

Goblin paladin.
Android unchained barbarian.
Ganzi oracle with the legalistic "curse"
Anything with Wyrwoods.
Celestial-blooded sorcerer tiefling.

Human fighter.

It's so expected that it's unexpected!

Sovereign Court

*Checks character list*
"Unholy" Aasimar Alchemist "Hellknight" +tumors, extra arms, mummification...
Kitsune Occultist for a real magical blink fox
Ifrit Inquisitor, not Immolator archetype

If we are going for appearances:
Undine (using a hat of disguise and Mostly Human racial trait to appear as a Merfolk) Eldritch Guardian Fighter with his trusty (evolved for reach, protector) squirrel, both fighting unarmed and flopping on the ground prone...
Halfling (using a hat of disguise to appear as a ratfolk) Medium/Crossblooded Sorcerer/Winter Witch/Oracle all focused to take acid splash to crazy town.

And the rest are basically human.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by odd/strange...

Some combinations are explicitly detrimental, others may just be rare due to lack of synergy. Or the elementals seem contradictory even if the rules work together.

An Orc Wizard takes a penalty to his prime stat, and the barbaric culture doesn't scream "bookish spellcaster."

An Undine doesn't get any real bonuses that would apply to being a wizard, but no penalties either.

A Demon-blooded tiefling Celestial bloodline sorcerer seems a contradiction, but the rules mesh fine.

Celestial bloodline teifling is s good idea

Grippli fire kineticst might be fun.

I once played a Dwarf sorcerer/ranger gestalt

We had a ratfolk monk in our party one time. He went by Master Flinter. He was pretty great. (Guest player, so we had some fun with it)

Odd as in things that lack synergy so you wouldn't typically see them at a table. Great ideas so far though

Gnome Inquisitor. There's just something odd about a Gnome being a religious fanatic and they don't really fit mechanically either.

Grippli Barbarian for obvious reasons.

Orc Arcanist, the genius hacker of the magic users being the race known for not being too bright.

"Savage Wizard" is a great way to mess with perceptions people have.

I'm still planning to play a Dwarven Sorcerer (Empyrial-blooded) at some point, if only I didn't hate d6 classes so much.

I think I'm down to one of three. Dwarf magus, halfling barbarian, or half orc witch. Which would you guys bring to the table?

Halfling Barbarian is great for DR builds.

halfling barbarians is a classic... in its own class

half orc witch is not strange at all, I think the scarred witchdoctor archetype was made especially for half orcs (ok, orcs, but most SWD PCs will be half orcs anyway)

It's in the ARG

thanks, I had looked at the wrong race and got lost

No problem.

Also, I would go with the dwarf magus, and focus on air- and lightning-themed spells. Just to mess with people, really.

Many centuries ago, the Dwarves quested for the sky. Obviously there is unlimited potential just waiting to be tapped there.

Ran a game where a PC was a Fiendish Awakened Boar Barbarian.
I also played alongside a Hobgoblin Monk. He was tough.
Once, I played an emotionally sensitive Goblin Bard, named Doorstop, whose job was a comedic juggler, complete with jester hat.

I played a halfling monk once on a short term campaign. Not that the combination is that weird but my choices are usually very standard.
I'd love to see a goblin witch only for watching her burning scrolls to «feed» her familiar.

Anything that is not an Elf, Dwarf, Halfling or Human with absolutely any class at all.

Easiest way to get 'oddest' is just to pick an uncommon race or a class that relies on a stat that the race either doesn't interact with or penalizes. Bonus points if you also pick a more nonstandard class. Like Orc Wizard is an oddity. Orc Arcanist or Psychic probably even moreso though.

Wayang Inquisitor sounds fun. I've played a (strength based) Kitsune Brawler before too.

Though I'm also partial to Samsaran anything-that-doesn't-have-spellcasting, given how defined the race is by mystic past life shenanigans.

Actually Samsaran Fighter could be interesting. Not amazing, but +int +wis and Shards of the Past help patch some of the Fighter's weaknesses and while -con sucks, Lifebound patches that a tiny bit and you could always just stick to a backline fighter of some kind.

Actually went ahead with Kobold Monk/Paladin (with vow of poverty for extra cringe).

Agreed that Halfling Barbarian is also pretty cool, and becomes pretty sweet if you throw in Risky Striker.

Gnoll swashbuckler is something I've wanted to do for a little bit, as well as a Goblin Rage Prophet.

In the realm of NPCs, a Troll vigilante? Pugwampi cleric? C'thulu Commoner?
