![]() I think I will make a noble son or daughter of Kintargo. Maybe of one of the Infernal sympathetic houses. Second son (or daughter) raised with the sole purpose of propping up his/her elder brother. Has a bit of a rebellious streak that led to mingling with the 'common folk' and people their family would consider traitors. Ended up with a lover that may or may not be connected to the Silver Ravens that has suddenly disappeared from their life. Will likely be trained in espionage and all the dark secrets the head of the family shouldn't have to handle. So maybe a Rogue, Investigator, Inquistor or Slayer? I suppose an arcane caster could potentially fit as well. Will be taking the Noble Scion feat. Thinking either start as a CN type and become CG over time, or just go full CG. ![]()
![]() I actually avoid small races despite loving them for the same reason as Crag_Irons, most groups I have played in have an irrational hatred for Gnomes (one of the best races) and look at Halflings as jokes. Otherwise my personal favourites are probably Elf and Half-Elf. What can I say? I have always loved Elves and the tropes that come with them. ![]()
![]() I was really hoping the Phantom Blade would be able to use Spell Combat with a two-handed weapon (and that seems to have been the creator's intent), but it seems they just use the regular ol' Magus Spell Combat that restricts things to one handed weapons. ![]()
![]() Basic character idea: Former student of the Professor who traveled with him for a time. Had to move back home to take care of an ailing father. Worked in the local mines and occasionally lectured at local college to make ends meet. While mining found a strange weapon that happened to be possessed by the amnesiac ghost of an ancient warrior. He sent a letter to Lorrimor about it but never received a reply until the letter informing him of his former Teacher's death. Have some ideas for fleshing it out, but I think there is potential. ![]()
![]() Invested Regent is a really cool and powerful Unchained Monk archetype that needs some seriously MAD stats. ![]()
![]() I only just realized the all Bard party recruitment is happening. I probably won't have time to make a submission (last final exam on Monday), but I had a really cool idea. Court Poet/Bold Schemer Skald, thanks to Skald weapon and armour proficienies he can still mix it up, but he is very much the tool for any problem outside of combat. Skald of Twists and Turns is great for an Urban campaign. He also just makes his allies better at their casting and out of combat utility with Insightful Contemplation and eventually Bold Strategy. Plus he can really make use of those extra proficiencies he gains in a party where it is certain that the knowledge checks will be covered. ![]()
![]() I used to get a lot of fun just out of creating characters, not even playing them. I would make at least a character a week with archetypes or abilities I hadn't used before, a background based on one of my own settings, or Golarion, or any number of other settings. Recently I seem to have lost that spark in creating characters, I find myself staring blankly at the Pathfinder srd trying to get some inspiration, but it is nowhere to be found. It's sad really. ![]()
![]() So, the Magic Warrior. It's a Magus archetype that lets you get a single feature from Beast Shape I at will. It also has some really cool flavour. It seems very obvious that the most useful thing to do with it is morph into a bird when you need to fly, but can anyone think of other cool uses of this archetype? ![]()
![]() I prefer to have evenly spread out stats to make versatile characters so I am going to give another shot at this with my third roll and cross my fingers!: Stats 3:
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 5) = 12 10 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 3) = 11 10 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 1) = 10 9 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 1) = 7 6 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 6) = 15 13 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 1) = 18 17 And that is definitely below a +3... So rerolling... Stars 3 Reroll:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 5) = 13 12 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 5) = 18 15 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 3) = 20 17 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 6) = 17 14 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 4) = 18 15 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 3) = 13 11 And that my friends is exactly what I wanted. ![]()
![]() I see "Any official Paizo" listed after Material. Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 3) = 15 13 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 1) = 14 13 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 1) = 12 11 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3) = 12 10 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 6) = 21 18 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 4) = 16 14 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 5) = 19 15

![]() Spheres of Power seems like such a cool system but it intimidates me. I've looked through the wiki multiple times and I have never come out of it with a viable character idea. Dreamscarred Press's Path of War classes on the other hand... I think I am going to attempt to make an extremely versatile character combining those two rulesets. A Harbinger combined with a Sphere caster that focuses on healing could be interesting. They do their best to mend the damage they cause with their terrible Harbinger powers. ![]()

![]() 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 4) = 20 16
16, 16, 16, 14, 14, 12 Those are quite high rolls, but I think I'll keep them. Time to come up with something of a prodigy to justify those stats (and some character flaws of course). What class is Cade playing? ![]()

![]() Here's a very rough start to my character's tale: The Death of Connac Aevell:
A quiet crackle of ash burning in the hearth was the only sound that permeated the night. Hector watched the shadows cast by the dwindling flames dance across the ceiling of his childhood chambers. He sighed in a mix of contentment and concern. His father Connac had been acting oddly. Connac was a legendary hero in his day and Hector had hoped to follow in his footsteps, yet a mere two years into his adventuring career his father had called him back home with urgency. Hector had arrived earlier that to discover a changed man. Wrinkles creased his father’s face where there had been none before, a voice once filled with a promise of grand tales quaked, and eyes once brimming with confidence seemed to dart about in paranoia. Still, his father had been joyous to see him and Hector would be lying to say he had not missed the old man. They had dined on a meal fit for kings and his father had ushered him to bed, declaring they would speak in the morning once well rested. Hector wondered what could have been so important to call him home from a country away, but then not discuss immediately. Hector had just pushed aside his covers to throw another log on the fire when he heard a faint crash and a shout. It had come from his father’s chambers. Perhaps age was getting to the old man and he had stumbled into something or taken a fall? Even as he considered the possibilities his feet had taken him to the door of his father’s chambers. The first thing he noticed upon entering his father’s chambers was the chill. The fire was out and the coverings of the window blown open. His eyes saw his father next, but his mind refused to comprehend. Red, blood red… a blood red pool about his father who was propped against the wall next to his desk, head resting on his chest. The blood came from a wound at Connac’s side from which a dagger protruded. Hector dropped to his knees at his father’s side with a moan of anguish. “Father?” his voice barely a whisper, as though asking the question too loudly would be the end of the man. Connac’s head bolted back and he stared into Hector’s eyes, with those fierce eyes that had been missing when Hector arrived home. Suddenly his hand was in Hector’s, grasping it tightly. With a shuddering breath and a gasp Connac chokes out his final words, “My son… Get the Band back together.” Hector pressed his forehead to his father’s with unshed tears gleaming in his eyes, “Of course father, whatever you ask.” The gravity of the moment brought a choked sob to Hector’s throat. His father would die here, an assassin’s blade in his side and a final wish on his lips. It was only after the final breath left his father’s lungs that Hector’s thoughts truly turned to the assailant and the open window. With a start he leapt from his father’s side and to the window. Looking for evidence of the unknown assassin. Looking out into the night Hector saw something that made his blood run cold. A figure stood in the courtyard, watching the window, as though waiting for Hector to find his father, to find the man the assassin had murdered. Hector tried to form the words to shout, but a blink of his eyes and the figure was gone.
I took a lot of liberties with the character Connac Aevell and the events around his death, so let me know if there are things I should change. ![]()
![]() Hmm, so more unusual races are on a case by case basis, so before I run with this idea I thought I would run it by you. I think this game would be a great opportunity for unusual parentage in Connac's child. The idea is a Aasimar or Tiefling or other part outsider son of Connac that has never met his mother. Fits with the legends of Connac and gives a possibly interesting and powerful mother figure for the GM to play with later on. |
