Just to clarify here, the first four items in the Starfinder Accessories line will all ship at the same time in August. If you want to subscribe to the Starfinder Accessories but do not want one of the starting four items, you will need to sign up with September's release of the Starfinder Condition Cards when that becomes available to start with.
This is the very beginning of a subscription and there are certain benefits established that are based in starting with all four items in this subscription line (access to the Paizo Advantage for Starfinder Superscribes and Charter Subscription tags).
We will be adjusting the subscription page to hopefully make this more clear.
If you need to cancel your Starfinder Accessories subscription to avoid one of these items shipping, let customer service know as soon as possible. If you want to retain a preorder for one or more of the items just let customer service know. Keep in mind, they will not be subscription items and will not receive the PDF benefits.

The system is generally a little funny when you add a sub - it won't "kick in" until your first shipment - otherwise people could subscribe, buy something at a discount, and then cancel the subscription (getting the Paizo Advantage without commitment).
When August comes around you'll get an email a few days before shipment telling you what the actual cost will be. That's where the discount will show up.
Although it's confusing, the SFS issue is how things are supposed to work - we don't get the subscription (which would charge us for the scenarios). Rather, we are "treated as if we were subscribers" so we'll be granted access to the PDFs for free when subscribers get their copies.
This is a post from Vic Wertz, regarding the Starfinder Society subscription.
We need to adjust our messaging on the Starfinder Society Scenarios benefit for Starfinder Superscribers—you'll get the same benefits that Starfinder Society Scenario subscribers get, but you don't actually get the subscription itself (and you don't actually need it).

Okay, subscribed to some lines, but still see some preorders in my sidecart. Is that normal?
EDIT: and yeah, now I'm a deluxe Comic Subscriber?
It looks like the preorders in your sidecart are all the subscription copies, nothing appears to be a duplicate.
As for the the deluxe comic subscriber thing - it is a display error on the messageboard tag. The subscription on your account is still a regular comics subscription.

If I preorder the hard cover now to ship to my home and it later becomes available to pick up at Gen Con, will I be able to update my order to opt for that? Will an email go out to those of us who purchased so we know or do we need to keep an eye out?
Thank you as always for the awesome work you do!

Previously for Paizocon/Gencon pickup, there is an email when the option is available. The option to pickup has previously been limited to subscribers, and consists of a switch in your my subscriptions from 'ship to home' to 'pick up at the con'
Preorders are not normally allowed for the pickup ( the admin is too difficult) but for the rulebook, there's no reason not to subscribe if you're preordering - you get the PDF for free, and if you didn't want future items it's as simple as an email or a forum post here to cancel.

Thank you again. Got the subscription all ordered.
