Seeing invisible allies

Advice

I was wondering if there are methods of seeing invisible allies beyond See Invisibility and True Seeing. What I am looking for is a way to alter the invisible character so that their allies are able to see them rather than granting all of the allies the ability to see invisible creatures. Ideally this would work with Greater Invisibility. I wasn't able to find anything in my searching. Any help would be appreciated.

no, there's no special way to let allies see you and enemies not see you.

Invisibility sphere does what you are looking for, but only as invisibility, not greater.

Status is a wonderful spell that - among its other uses - lets you know the distance and direction of any target you have cast it on. So you will always know what square they are in even if you can't target them directly.

Thank you for that, that at least proves the concept exists in universe. I may be able to convince my GM to allow me to research a greater version of Invisibility Sphere or to create an item using Status to get the effect I am looking for.

Selective invisibility (from Dirty Tactics Toolbox) is another example. It's intended to make you invisible to all creatures except the one you are attacking but you can use it a weird way to be invisible except to one ally. It would end if you attacked any creature, though.

A pseudodragon familiar has blindsense and telepathy, so he could update the party as to the position of invisible PCs within range. And is available as an improved familiar.

That's probably your best bet. I do have to say that greater invisibility sphere would be an incredibly powerful spell. Mass invisibility is only "regular" invisibility, you can't automatically see each other, and it's a 7th level spell. I'd probably put the greater sphere at 8th or 9th level with a 10' radius.

I'd be more likely to approve a selective greater invisibility which works like greater invis except you choose one target within close range who can see you. Probably a 5th or 6th level spell.

There's a good niche for a teamwork feat that would let you automatically be aware of the location of invisible allies within 30' who also have the feat. But not actually be able to see them so you couldn't target them. Seeing them would require some sort of magical (spell or item) aid.

I think you can do that with the Bonded Mind teamwork feat actually. It's a good use of the feat though.

Half Orc friends can get scent.

Bonded mind lets you use the message spell in a quasi-telepathic way. However you have to be able to see and hear the ally to use it.

Hmm, it does call out sight specifically, bummer.

Well, there's the Telepathic Bond spell with sufficient caster level..
