What about goblins with cyberware? It could be gifted to them by a clone of Mengkare's (or some other well-meaning entity's) mind uploaded to an AI synthetic consciousness. The Mengkare/AI has decided to try to 'uplift' the goblin race by having handpicked the highest-evolved tribes M/AI could locate and meld them into a more civilized sub-race of goblin. To reward their good behavior, M/AI gives them cyberware and beneficial technologies (no weapons). Goblins being what they are, sometimes they accidentally ('accidentally') cause trouble anyway.

I also think it'll be the ysoki (ratfolk). But, if I had my drothers...
...it'd instead be the kobolds. They're already used to living in enclosed corridors, and being Small, they use much less air/water/food than Medium races. They tend to be Lawful and work well in communities, both of which are idea for extended periods living aboard ships. They typically only weigh a quarter of what Medium races do, and less mass means less fuel consumption for ships (especially escaping gravity wells). And if androids can adapt/improve from Pathfinder to Starfinder (hints are they're less vunerable to vaccuum), then so can kobolds:
KOBOLD (K. secūris spatium) RACIAL TRAITS
- +2 Dexterity, –2 Strength [-1 RP]: Kobolds are nimble but weak.
- Reptilian [0 RP]: Kobolds are humanoids with the reptilian subtype.
- Small [0 RP]: Kobolds are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on their combat maneuver checks and to Combat Maneuver Defense, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
- Normal Speed [-1 RP]: Kobolds have a base speed of 30 feet.
- Darkvision [2 RP]: Kobolds can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
- Armor [2 RP]: Kobolds have a +1 natural armor bonus.
- Crafty [5 RP]: Kobolds gain a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks, and to a single Craft or Profession skill of their choice. Their skill choice and Stealth are always class skills.
- Weakness [-1 RP]: Light sensitivity.
- Hardy Voyager* [1 RP]: Kobolds receive a +4 racial bonus to Fortitude checks against radiation exposure. They also treat their Constitution as 4 points higher for avoiding suffocation, starvation, and thirst.
- Gecko* Toes [1 RP]: Kobolds have long, nimble toes. As long as they have at least two available limbs, they retain their Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while climbing. Kobolds can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even when rushed or threatened.
- Languages [0 RP]: Kobolds begin play speaking only their own dialect of Draconic. Kobolds with high Intelligence scores can choose bonus languages from the following: Interlac (Common), Dwarven, Gnome, and Ratfolk.
Because of their need to cooperate for survival, I'd also bump them racially from LE to LN too, at least when dealing with known allies.
Edit: * My theory is they were spliced with Dsup proteins and other bioenhancements that were reverse-genegineered from tardigrades.
** Yeah, I know real gecko toes instead rely in Van der Waals interactions, but naming stuff is hard sometimes.

Kobolds would actually work pretty well thinking about it. They're small. They're lawful, so more predisposed to using technology without breaking that technology. They're humanoid so they can use the same tech as everyone else. They're funny in small numbers and dangerous in large ones. To be honest I think kobolds make the perfect space goblins.

Hologoblins (or cyber goblins) After the disappearance of golarion, few goblins remained. Unfortunately, not enough to re-populate (plus people didn't want them reuniting) thus were almost extinct.
Then, a well meaning scientist decided to recreate them in a simulation, but being as bad as their predecessors, they got lose from the program and have been wreaking havoc ever since. Think kremzeek from Transformers

That's only on my wittle spikes, and I have to inject that into something. It doesn't just dribble everywhere. :)

There was Mikaze's pretty darn cool flumph/gnome hybrid race (0HD) in LRGG's Halfbreeds and Hybrids. Assuming the rules don't change much between Pathfinder and Starfinder, it'd fit in as-is (although I'm sure you could think up a bunch more racial traits, feats, and alternate racial traits for Starfinder).

The best flumph I ever knew shot lasers from his eyes, summoned angels that also shot lasers, sung battle hymns of triumph and freedom, and crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
That was a character to behold.

Quote:"Space Frog Coast to Coast"May as well ask Art Bell if they can use his likeness then. :) Verily the first Starfinder.
Wanna Take A Ride?
I think the Starfinder setting would benefit greatly from an Alex Toth-inspired Space Frog Coast to Coast broadcast, but alas I am still under contract to another network {shakes fist impotently at Great IP Wall}. Although personally, I think I'd probably be better cast in the Zorak or Brak roles.

My personal mascot will a general purpose skill aiding robot. Something akin to Robbie the Robot. He's going to be an NPC on the ship for my players who will aid in attempting skill rolls no one can do or failed. However, he's a secondhand robot from a junkyard world so his programming has a lot of issues.
It's a d6 to decide if he can help or not. Anything over 3 is a success. The number rolled his his modifier.
2 and 3 means fail to compute.
1 is epic fail, and he breaks something.
Whatever the outcome, he will say, "I am Fixer 5000. I halp."
