My personal mascot will a general purpose skill aiding robot. Something akin to Robbie the Robot. He's going to be an NPC on the ship for my players who will aid in attempting skill rolls no one can do or failed. However, he's a secondhand robot from a junkyard world so his programming has a lot of issues.
It's a d6 to decide if he can help or not. Anything over 3 is a success. The number rolled his his modifier.
2 and 3 means fail to compute.
1 is epic fail, and he breaks something.

Whatever the outcome, he will say, "I am Fixer 5000. I halp."

I'm running a Gamma World campaign set in the Deadly Waters Ocean, which is so vast and desolate that the survivors believe the world is submerged entirely. Not true, but that's aside the point.

Recent scavenger groups have been diving for Ancient Junk, and some have discovered a deep underwater facility that stores ancient machines. Mechs! More and more of these ancient mechs are being found, creating a new face of survival on the Deadly Waters.

So, all that fluff aside; I have been thinking of ways to include mechs and mech battles between dungeons. When the PCs go into caves, or Bio Shock cities, they need to dismount to continue. So they will not be replacing their PCs, just using a utility battle vehicle between point A and B.

My question is how I should handle this. I'm personally cool with mega damage. They'll be fighting other mechs, krakens, zombie whales, and all sorts of One Piece-esque sea monsters.
My first instinct was to give each mech three Origins; Android, Giant, and X. X would either be rolled for or picked from the PC's two Origins. The mech abilities would either be removed in lue of weapons or Omega Tech upgrades, or kept in addition to weapons and omega tech.
There could be a shop/onboard mechanic for the mechs that requires Junk, or credits to upgrade.

When it comes to combat, every equation that has a '+' in it would change to 'x', giving way for that mega damage. Mechs would obviously have HP to handle this. So where to cripple the players? Give them fuel costs per move. Quick Attack would give back 2 Fuel, Power Attack would return 1 Fuel; ammo and skills would deplete x amounts of Fuel, and there would be a skip turn ability to regain 5 Fuel.
So, like the title says: Xenogears.

Thoughts? Ideas? Improvements? Doubts? Let me know. I have no one to talk to about this, outside my players (who are better not knowing until it comes up as a surprise?).

Hey all, first time making a Bard, and this will be my second character. I made a Ranger last time, but made the mistake of making him a Halfling... So he did little to no damage.
Now I have the opportunity to make a new dude, and frankly I want him to be annoying. (He is actually a story element for my Ranger, whom I'm swapping in briefly.)

My main idea is to bulk up his CHA and DEX, and completely ignore STR. He will have lots of points in Diplomacy, but nothing in Intimidation. He's going to seem IC like a great guy, but when the characters turn their backs on him, he'll be kicking puppies.

For a weapon/instrument I was thinking a lute and for a secondary have the world's smallest violin.

He will be lvl 7, and I am considering going the Buccaneer route, because he is supposed to be in the slaving industry. Anyone have advice on this? Things I should consider or tips? I'm still extremely green, but willing to learn!

Cheers!

Should I post here? I'm the Ranger/Wizard/Arcane Archer. It was my first character, so fiddling...
Anyway, you already deal a shit ton of damage. You and and the paladin are Cray Cray. I say just move on into Druid and stay there, now I think about it.
The point of this is to play to your character... Your story dictates the call to the druid powers that be or whatever the hell. So, heed the call and follow the path of Druid. Don't flip flop back into Fighter. Perhaps consider the idea of transforming. It might be really kick ass. A giant bear or something that trips his enemies so he can chew their faces off! :)
