Longbow as melee weapon

If a longbow is ever able to be considered a staff or other melee weapon from feats or spells, can you take feats, items, abilites etc. that are specifically for melee weapons?

There is the Bowstaff spell that allows a longbow to be *used* as a quarterstaff, although it does not *become* a quarterstaff. What exactly are you trying to do ?

I think if it's used "as a quarterstaff," you could apply weapon-specific feats (like Weapon Focus (quarterstaff)) to it.

Technically, the Transformative special ability can't be used to transform a longbow into a quarterstaff or vice versa because the longbow is not a melee weapon, but you may be able to convince your DM to allow it.

Unless you're using magic like the Bowstaff, it's at best an improvised weapon. So no that won't work.

Subsequent feats in the chain allow you to apply feats that work with ranged attack with the bow when you use it as a melee weapon.
