Just wanted to wish everyone in Paizoland a Happy Halloween!

Anyone dressing up? Partying? Trick or Treating? I'll be in the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade in NYC celebrating with a few million of my drunken friends.

Got a good idea for a costume? Post some pictures of cool costumes you have worn, or would like to wear...

NobodysWife as Lulu from Final Fantasy X

Definitely qualifies as the most expensive costume we've ever done. But NobodysWife has a knack for throwing amazing things together for herself on a budget, so she's done numerous awesome costumes (Medusa, demoness, mad scientist, and I'm sure many more I'm missing).

My third-favorite was me as Bacchus. We got some fake grape vines, we had a carved stone wine glass, add an oversized inside-out tunic and some Birkenstocks and I looked remarkably good.

My second-favorite was one of Impus Major's greatest inspirations. We got him a generic "knight" costume, but it had a sun on the chest. He immediately said, "OK, I'm King Arthur and you're that guy who carries all his stuff!"
"Patsy?"
"Yeah!"
So I disassembled a backpack, built a frame closely resembling Patsy's (from Monty Python and the Holy Grail), got the leggings, tunic, skull cap, and half-coconuts, and we wandered the neighborhood.
1/3 of the people who saw us said, "Best... costumes... EVER!"
2/3 of the people asked, "Who are you supposed to be?"

My all-time favorite was back in my Tae Kwon Do days. Working out 22 hours a week gives you a certain lithe, well-muscled physique that lends itself to cross-dressing quite magnificently. So I went as a French maid and NobodysWife went as a gypsy. What was amazing was that NobodysWife did my makeup, so I went to many places with people who knew me, and not only did they not recognize me, but they didn't realize I was cross-dressing! The best/worst was the poor little girl who came to our door, said, "Trick or Treat", I gave her some candy, she said, "Thank you", and I replied, "You're welcome!"
She gasped, exclaimed, "You're a MAN!" and then burst into inconsolable tears. I felt sooooooooo bad...

EDIT: Oh, and the kids, the kids...
Last year they were plague doctors. This year Impus Major is going as a pug detective, and Impus Minor is going as an ostrich with a unicorn head. Hey, I don't make 'em up, I just get the parts for 'em.

Favorite-ever Impus Major costume: Rainbow tutu, rainbow leggings, My Little Pony shirt, and bloody unicorn head. Truly, truly twisted and inspired.

Favorite-ever Impus Minor costume: The plague doctors. They were really uber-creepy, and played off each other SOOOO well, that the only reason it's not a twofer is the aforementioned rainbow awesomeness/atrocity.

Off to catch the train...

I just assumed the guy on the boneshaker was someone Fergie hated and was trying to get rid of.

I'm dressing up and trick or treating! 'Cause I'm still old enough to get away with it! :D

I'm dressing up as Jason Voorhees, I haven't actually seen the movie, but the mask is pretty scary! To other people.

2 hours doling out the now-obligatory chocolate eyeballs. VUDU has a gaggle of horror films on sale, one of which Missus Turin may be up to watching.

If not, there's always Civ 6 to keep me entertained for the evening. Then, birthday celebrations begin. Turin gets to stuff his yap and down some pricey Dragon's Milk. Nom!

I spent my time this Halloween eating myself pretty full from 5 until 6:30, then 6:35 to 7:10 bumming around Barnes and Noble.

Why you ask? Mom hates Halloween.

Me, I'm okay with it as long as I sit in the dark of my room, no lights and stuff, watching Hellraiser.

Bumming around B&N is awesome~! XD

When my son was 9, he dressed as Death. The costume was store bought, but it came with a ragged cloak and hood with black mesh that could be seen through from the inside, so it looked like the hood was empty. He had a scythe and a skull shaped bucket.

The women's dorms at one of the local colleges gave out candy so kids wouldn't have to wander around town and kids usually got a huge haul of candy from there. My son, of his own accord and with no coaching from me, practiced a gliding "walk" to perfect how Death would move down the hallways. When he knocked on the doors, instead of saying trick or treat, he'd simply hold up his skull bucket and when they put in candy he would intone "You have been spared" and then glide to the next door down the hall. We had to empty his bucket three times into the back seat of the car.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween isn't that big in Australia (with a lot of people seeming to believe it's 'unaustralian' to celebrate it)

Still it's on the rise and we at the Kip84 household thoroughly enjoy it.

Here's the kids ready to go trick or treating :)
My (autistic) son has insisted on going as Dracula for the last three years. We bought him a new costume this year but it didn't have a red shirt, so he wouldn't wear it.

(Not pictured: my eldest who unfortunately had to work.)

Happy Halloween!

I'm fielding some questions by email from students for the midterm later this week in the class I'm TA-ing for this semester.

And there were leftovers from the candy I brought to distribute in the office today! Inconceivable! Apparently grad school inflicts a terrible sense of responsibility upon some folks. :)

If I'm lucky, I'll have time before bed for a bit of now personal-ritual-tradition pomegranate and a Samhain meditation. Because we lead the wild witchy life here. ;)

I watched Hellraiser, once.

Turns out it was really a special on PBS about acupuncture starring Shirley McClain.

I still can't tell the difference.

Look, all I know, is that Event horizon was simply the worst.

I hate that film so very much.

I've seen more than enough of Hellraiser to be entirely uninterested. Too much Zon-Kuthon, not enough Shelyn for my taste.

That said, I know people who like either or both of those films. More power to them.

I'll just NOPE right on out of there...

:D

I actually heard something interesting about "It Follows" (I haven't seen it but I've read most of the plot summaries).

Warning! I've put it in spoilers BUT it's pretty darn...yucky!

Spoiler:
Apparently there's a scene in the movie where a mom and son are having sex and she drowns him in mom-semen.
