DM Mathpro |
Welcome Lucendar, Shadoo Mortimer, Regulas, Ladim, Yarr, and Quinn!
Let me first start off by saying welcome to all the players who haven't had the pleasure of gaming with me. Let me also say welcome back and I'm sorry to those that have. I'm glad you have chosen me as your DM and I hope to not disappoint.
I'd like to take a little time and get to know my players so below you will find a brief bio on me and if you feel comfortable writing one feel free to do so.
I am currently running several games on these boards and my players almost always enjoy themselves. I've been playing Pathfinder since about 2010 but have played D&D 3.5, Shadowrun, Final Fantasy table top, Vampire the Masquaraide(one session), as well as several home brewed games in the past so all together I have about 15-20 years of gaming experience.
I also enjoy role playing video games and have been a hopeless final fantasy junky for the last 15 years. I've played both MMO versions of Final Fantasy and even met my fantastic wife while playing FFXI. I currently play FFXIV though it isn't as fun as XI was in its hay day(before level cap was raised beyond 75). I have also played dragon age origins extensively.
I have an on again and off again relationship with Magic the Gathering which is currently on again lol. Tt is something my step son and I enjoy doing together, even though he insists on building the most annoying decks on the planet. I've also gotten him, his brother, my wife, and my sister in law all hooked on Pathfinder.

So I know I closed things early but interest was dwindeling and I wanted to give those selected time to iron out their characters with the other players that way no toes are stepped on. I'm slightly worried that with both a winter witch and a sorcerer in the party we might have to much over lap but I'm sure we can come to a solution. I am not planning on getting things started in game play until Monday at the earliest and if you guys aren't ready by then then we can push that back.
Just a reminder though I won't be on at all after 4 PM CST tomorrow(and not much before really but I'll try my best and respond to any dire needs that pop up) as I'm taking my wife out of town for our anniversary. First we're going to see Gabriel Iglacias Live tomorrow night and then its off to Branson MO for a weekend away.

Lucendar |

Hi DM MP, thanks for the selection. I apologize I only posted the concept - thought I had more time (he will be a dwarf zen archer monk). I have the crunch done, will post it immediately. About me, I am an immigration attorney in Miami, FL and I have been playing since Unearthed Arcana came out for D&D. I am also a fan of rping video games, mainly Dragon Age, Oblivion, and Skyrim. I look forward to the game, as I have never played this mod.

Regulas Luxandarc |

Hi there! Glad to be a part of this!
Been playing games like this for about 6 to 8 years now. Started off playing 2.0 DnD cause my friend was DMing some old school stuff. Picked up Pathfinder and Shadowrun after that so I do have a love for this thing, or really any kind of games where I can do crazy stuff. I normally try to play more wild concepts like Lizardfolk or Gnoll's and things that really slip out of the norm, but I couldn't resist playing this fighter cause playing Ragathiel's hand seemed kind of awesome with these feat combos. Guess I'll learn, I'm both a tank in your defense and a sword to return evil to nothing.
I'm just a guy working at a hotel on the beach in sunny San Diego so I can always reply at work or at home, so long as I see its time to reply. I like this team build and look forward to playing x3 DM if you ever get the chance, could you please DOT the gameplay area so we can as well. That way it'll show up on our active campaigns and we'll know whenever there is an update to the discussion or gameplay.

Yarr Truesteel |

Hey guys, checking in. Thanks for the selection, Mathpro. Looking forward to playing with you all.
Bit about me: started playing with 3.0 & 3.5. Tried my hand at a few 4.0 sessions (GMing though, I've never actually played 4.0) but didn't love it, so after the conclusion of a 4-year 3.5 campaign I somehow had time for all through college, I made the switch to Pathfinder and here we are, happily ever after! Started PbP games maybe 2012-ish, I think, though only on the Paizo boards for about a year or so.
My RPG recommendation for anyone who hasn't tried it is always Paranoia. Play this game.
I'm a semi-serious Ultimate player, and semi-serious runner (when my meniscus isn't torn to pieces, like it is now). Other hobbies include being bad at League of Legends, and convincing myself not to start playing EVE again.

Yarr Truesteel |

So just wanting to give you guys a heads up because I don't want to set anyone off. This game starts with the murder of one of the PC's parents. Is this going to hit to close to home for anyone?
Not for me, but thanks for checking. I saw someone have an unfortunate experience reacting to the plot hook for Giantslayer, so kudos to you sir, for asking.

Quinn Canyonsider |

Checking in. Glad to be here.
I've been playing RPGs (mostly d20 based, but I've dipped into others) since about 2001ish with D&D 3.0.
This character is based on a concept I've had in the back of my mind for many years. He imported into pathfinder easily as a shoanti. I'm excited to be able to try him out at high level.
As to the hook, Quinn hasn't seen his parents (or even the rest of his clan, the Tamiir-Quah) in over a decade. He didn't leave his clan on good terms, and he doesn't talk about it. I'm still polishing the details of what exactly happened. Having death in the family could be a source of heavy drama. I think I'm up for it, if it works for you. the Tamiir-Quah are an isolated people, and how they'd get caught up in a Moon plot, I don't know.
Edit: clarification

Ladim Relos |

Hello all!
Firstly I'd like to say that I haven't had the experience to play with DM Mathpro, but from what I gathered, it'd be a blast, and I'm glad to have been selected.
Regarding the PC's parents, I have absolutely no issues with that, considering someone went through the effort of raising his mom and finding his deadbeat dad.
Now, about myself, I'm assuming that I'm a fair bit younger than the regular crowd at 22, and I'm currently doing a course in Mechatronics in sunny Scotland. I started Pathfinder three odd years ago, and I just got my own campaign off the ground, of which I'm quite proud! I've also played a fair amount of Dragon Age, and loved it.
For the player side, I aim to play different characters and not get bogged down in a niche. (Despite cowboys being something of a soft spot.) I enjoy inter-character interaction a lot, and a favourite thing to do is start a conversation with another character about a topic that is unrelated to either the characters or the 'quest'.
Regarding Ladim, he is a fairly colourful character. Visually, I imagine him as an amalgamation between a silver-tongued cockney bastard and Jack from Mass Effect, latter mostly a visual inspiration in combat.
Regarding character building and leveling up, I have to admit I've never played anything about level 10. (and that was a bit of a strange homebrew) I have a vision of what to pursue, but I'd like to ask for the players and the DM to give it a brief glance after I'm done to let me know if something stands out as overpowered or straight up unbalancing, and I'll figure out something else.

Ladim Relos |

Just doing the HP roll.
HP, start, 15 levels, 4 con, 1/level: 6 + 15d6 + 80 ⇒ 6 + (6, 1, 1, 6, 1, 1, 6, 6, 3, 2, 3, 3, 5, 5, 4) + 80 = 139
Ha! 1 hp above average!
I've updated the bloke and tomorrow I'll put up a short character description.

Ladim Relos |

Ladim stands at just under 5'5", and physically he's about as unimposing as they get. His face is handsome, usually covered with a all-knowing, confident smile, or exaggerating the feeling he's trying to convey. He wears a well-tailored suit in the latest fashions of the River Kingdoms, the shirt unbuttoned halfway. Over it, he wears a thick black longcoat of unidentifiable material, laced with a bright metallic glimmer on the trim. A perceptive eye would spot an elaborate tattooed pattern starting from his chest, which continues all around his torso, if someone was to see him undressed.
He usually carries a strange rod on his hip, made of a strangely crystalline green metal, carved with nearly illegible Androffan runes, intuitively reaching on stressful occasions. He bears himself with a confident gait, always staring people in the eyes regardless of their stature or status.
As a habit left from the old days, he smokes hand-rolled cigarettes, mixed with bad quality tobacco, reaching to store or retrieve them from behind his ear occasionally.
Right. Other players, since we're going to have a couple of days until the GM shows up, anyone ever though of former affiliations with the other PCs? I could see maybe having a run-in with Regulas anywhere from the Worldwound to Numeria, or, perhaps even a grudge with Yarr due to disagreement on 'safe handling of artefacts'?

Quinn Canyonsider |

Quinn has been just about everywhere in Golarion, so I could see him having met one or more of the other PCs. Quinn has been more-or-less a wandering mercenary for good causes.

Yarr Truesteel |

I love the idea, really; there can only be so many level 16s running around causing trouble.
Yarr, especially because he just keeps destroying valuable things, has probably earned himself something of a reputation as a Zealot. I wouldn't be surprised if other PCs found themselves fighting alongside him and initially regretting it-- until he's proved his value, of course.

Quinn Canyonsider |

I noticed I haven't appeared on the Players and Characters tabs. Is there something I need to do?
Also, the GM said something about dotting the gameplay thread, but I don't see any posts under the Gameplay tab. I'll try posting there.

Quinn Canyonsider |

I posted, it seems to go through, but still no posts appear under the Gameplay tab.
Edit: I AM on the Players and Characters tabs now though

Regulas Luxandarc |

Welcome back, lol I only just now read these discussions so it'll be interesting to see what had built up while I was away lol

Quinn Canyonsider |

I believe Quinn and Ladim would get along very well, similar personalities. Maybe they have worked together before? Maybe they're AWESOME BEST BROS?
Just brainstorming here, what do you think?

Regulas Luxandarc |

Regulas can be a bit curt and rude without meaning too, just harsh from how his backstory was. But if anyone would be able to handle that well I'd assume Yarr could. He's kinda like the Jackal in bravely second. Badass with a heart of gold lol

Quinn Canyonsider |

Quick question: How many posts in the gameplay thread do you all see? Because I see zero, even after I tried posting there twice. The two posts vanished as if they never existed, at least from what I can see. Does anyone see posts from me there?

Quinn Canyonsider |

Strange. It still says Inactive for me, and when I clicked the link to go to the campaign, all the threads were blank, like it was all deleted. So I searched for Moonscar, and found this, where apparently it all still exists. I'm confused, but whatever. I can see the gameplay thread now, so that's progress.
Edit: Now that I've posted, It's all working.

Yarr Truesteel |

Welcome! Glad you got it sorted.
Just a quick point to everyone, I'm playing Yarr rather gruff for now, but I'm sure he'll lighten up a bit once it's not midnight in a bar in a city he doesn't particularly like full of strangers he mostly hasn't met. If he's coming off as too aggressive for anyone's tastes, let me know and I'll back it off a bit.
