PFS Halloween Themed Month (Oct) -- Scenario and Module ideas needed

Pathfinder Society

Grand Lodge 4/5

Hopefully this is the proper section of the site to drop this thread.

For the month of October, at my suggestion, our local PFS Lodge wouldlike to do only spooky horror/thriller style adventures. We'll be doing both standard and Core, and during our convention on the 29th, we'll be specifically doing modules for both sides. I'm looking for ideas that we could use to run for all four weeks, plus the convention date.

So far our own GMs have suggested:
The Haunting of Hinojai (5-9)
Mists of Mwangi (1-5)
Hall of the Flesh Eaters (1-5) > Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts (3-7)
Black Waters (1-5) > School of Spirits (1-5)
Crypt of the Everflame (1-2)
Murder's Mark (1-2)
and various modules taken from Carrion Crown.

Mists we're unfortunately doing this week as it was requested, and none of the new players had done it, but we'll just run it Core later.

As many suggestions as possible would be welcome. We've got a few new players, and a few returning players, but the majority have been doing PFS for five years. There's little they haven't done standard, but they could likely still do it for Core.

Feast of Ravenmoor (2-4 Module)
The Twisted Circle (1-5)

Check out 8-06 Reaping What We Sow it's not out until October 26th, but sounds like it will fit well.

The following are also good fits:
Carrion Hill
3-07 Echoes of the Overwatched (1-5)
4-02 In Wrath's Shadow (3-7)
3-16 The Midnight Mauler (3-7)
5-09 The Traitor's Lodge (3-7)

I added the upcoming scenario Pathfinder Society #8–06: Reaping What We Sow to the schedule with Halloween in mind. There won't be a lot of time to prepare it for a convention that weekend, but it's going to fit your theme beautifully.

Silver Crusade 4/5

If you want to use part of an adventure path, the 2nd book of Rise of the Runelords is great for this. I was considering running it in October myself.

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5

3-15, Haunting of Hinojai
OR
AP Haunting of Harrowstone, Carrion Crown adventure path part 1

Tears at Bitter Manor can be played you with spook factor depending on gm. Module.

The new Strange Aeons ap I heard is good.

I have Decline of Glory and Midnight Mauler scenarios scheduled for my October spook themed games

I have to say that it pleases me to see other people chiming in that they'll also be doing some Halloween themed scenarios specifically in the month of October.

I happened to find an old thread regarding "horror" scenarios, and will add a few that they talked about back in 2012. Unfortunately, a LOT of them are now retired so will not be listed here.
Scenarios:
#35 Voice in the Void (1-5)
#43 The Pallid Plague (1-7)
#47 The Darkest Vengeance (1-5)
#49 Among the Dead (1-7) (makes sense since it's a sequel to the one Whack-a-Rogue suggested)
#2-12 Below the Silver Tarn (7-11)
#2-16 The Flesh Collector (7-11) (questionable, but the right GM could pull it off)
#3-21 Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (1-5)

Modules:
Godsmouth Heresy (1-2)
From Shore to Sea (5-7)

It was also said that anything dealing with the Blakros would fit, but I don't know about that. Blakros Matrimony definitely doesn't seem to fit the bill.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Among the Dead is slapstick humour, the horror is just a tone there!

Darkest Vengeance:
Darkest Vengeance being horror is a red herring, but don't tell your players - that's the twist!

As for Blakros scenarios, Voice, Mists and Echoes are all horror to an extent. Collection has some sweet sweet body horror as well, but the scenarios not dealing with the museum itself are less so. Sure there's an undead here and an eldritch horror there, but the focus is elsewhere.

I would highly recommend Scenario #2-25: You Only Die Twice

The synopsis speaks for itself as to the reasoning for Halloween!

The Pathfinder Society sends you into the undead-ruled nation of Geb for an undercover mission, not disguised as undead, but temporarily transformed into a shambling, zombie version of yourself. Can you survive the ordeal to return to the land of the living, or will your final grave be among Geb’s bones?

I ran it for my local store and everyone had a blast. If you want to further add to the fun try using starbursts or other candies for your monsters for the game to let players have some treats as they play.

Also throw in PFS 4-03 (tier 5-9) the Golemworks Incident. It has a "Psycho" theme to it.

Yup, Muser brought that one up.

You are definitely not alone in planning horror adventures!

I set up a kind of event last year, naming it Gobloween 2015, and we ran four horror modules. I plan on running more this year and writing a list of horror adventures for the local game store owner to consider putting on for the PFS crowd here!

This year I am running Emerald Spire Level 2: The Cellars, Feast of Ravenmoor, Carrion Crown part 1: The Haunting of Harrowstone, No Response from Deepmar, and I make it a tradition to run Carrion Hill just before Halloween every year!

Grand Lodge 4/5

I'm hoping Gallows of Madness is PFS ready by Halloween. That looks intense.

#6: Black Waters (1-5)
#7: Among the Living (1-7)
#24: Decline of Glory (1-7)

I am not a Paizo employee so I have no inside knowledge of this, but I would doubt that Strange Aeons will have chronicles released until after the entire AP is done. My main reasoning is that most of the time there are boons on the chronicles that, if not spoil, then greatly hint at plot points, and I don't think they'd release things like that until the AP is complete.

That aside, has anyone mentioned Penumbral Accords yet? I remember there being a serious creep/scare factor to it, but I may be mistaken.

I wouldn't count on it. I'd rather see more modules and/or completed AP's sanctioned before part one of an in-progress AP.

In this case I was just the one pushing for a particular date and helping brainstorm ideas. Linda put together this module sanctioning document.
