Yet another Kitsune sorcerer noob in need of advice

Advice

Greetings,
I am currently building a kitsune sorcerer and i am unsure about which bloodline to take. Most people online lean towards the fey bloodline for the arcana... But it feels kinda lackluster to me.
Is +2 DC worth it that much?
I also having issues while choosing my 1st lvl Spells. At the moment i think i am going to settle for charm person and color spray but that is not making any use of my arcana.
Other spells i might take, are sleep or hypnotism, but to me it feels like they are worse than color spray in combat and worse than charm person in social situations. Should i consider different spells or got with the mentioned ones until i gain additional spells?

Thank in advance for your help,
Rayek

What books do you own? Is it short enough to list? Are you willing to buy more? Are you willing to buy a book for just one or two things for this character? I am sorry for the barrage of questions, but I need to know how to limit my answers. Also keep in mind that any advice that I will give you will be based more on what I would find interesting then what is most powerful.

I generally like Sylvan Sorcerer, taking Boon Companion by third at the latest. Having a pet wolf to help out in combat frees my Sorc to take fun spells at low levels. Sure, you could take Sylvan or Infernal to boost DCs, but that means you'll be ending fights in a very boring fashion. Sleep is a one-round casting time, and I always regret taking it. By the time the casting is done, you can't cast on multiple enemies without hitting allies.

I own APG,ACG,Bestiary1+2,CRB,UCampaign,UCombat,UMagic,UEquipment and also have access to the pfsrd. I have to check with my gm about things that are allowed, so 3rd party may be fine. Buying new books depends on the price of the book and the availability of the contents via pfsrd.

I am fine with fluffy option rather than powergaming, but i'd like to at least carry my own weight and not be useless in all but one thing. Currently i am going for Face(Cha 20 and Bluff/Intimidate/Diplomacy as class skills) and CC in fights.

Whoops, somehow I had gotten into my head that this was for PFS. Depending on the campaign, Impossible and Serpentine bloodlines can very very helpful by allowing you to affect constructs and animal, respectively, with your enchantment spells.

The Sylvan blood line seems quite fitting for a kitsune, but i am trading away all the things (+2DC and pierce SR) that makes ppl recommend the fey bloodline in the 1st place. Is it worth considering just for the companion?

I do not have that much info about the setting but i think it will be quite normal and we will be facing humanoids, since its his 1st session. Also I feel like those bloodline dont really fit a kitsune.

Afterall i am split between the fey bloodline that gets recommended over and over and the arcane bloodline that tends to get rated as the the best overall bloodline for sorcerers...

Playing a low-level Sorcerer sucks. You only have two spells for your first two levels, and those range from useless in combat to useful but boring. The most important thing your bloodline can do is make the gap until you get more spells interesting. As you progress, you get more spells, and those can finally fill out an adventuring day. If you're going for fun stuff, optimize your bloodline choice for something fun at low levels. It's especially true since your game may not reach high levels.

Sovereign Court

Yes - I'd go Fey. The +2 DC is huge if you want to focus on enchantments - which is what Kitsune do best. By level 3 you could have an extra +5 DC to all compulsion spells, which basically means that they nearly always work.

Charm Person & Color Spray are solid choices, but I'd probably take Sleep over Color Spray since your DC (if you go Fey Bloodline) will be 3-4 points higher. (4 points if you take Spell Focus: Enchantment.) Of note: Charm Person isn't a combat spell. It's for out of combat in combination with social abilities.

With a Charisma of 20, Fey Bloodline, and Spell Focus: Enchantment your DC for both will be 20, which means that they'll virtually always work.

Note: You'll eventually want to trade away Sleep once your foes usually have more than 4 hitdie.

You will suck against anything undead or mindless, but anything else Sleep will basically be a I-Win button for the first level or three.

Although the +2 DC is amazing for an offensive spellcaster, the Kitsune already has racial and favored class bonus going for her.
Against foes vulnerable to compulsions nothing will beat the +2 DC, but many (campaign dependant ofc) are immune so I would suggest against putting all your eggs in one basket or undead, constructs and the like will ruin your day.
With an animal companion instead you will still have respectable DCs where thay are applicable, but you will also have the option to buff your animal with self only arcane goodness and let it unleash hell on those compulsion immune foes.

Nothing better than turning your wolf into a dragon at higher levels!

Turning it into dragon and casting transformation on it is technically better.
Just remember to take boon companion and greater spell focus, and keep the upper end of your spells known with at least one AoE and one single target enchantments, while you gradually retrain your lower end spells known. Ranks in stealth, ride and the still spell feat are also nice if you want to have the option to remain hidden on the back of your animal companion.
