615. Threadcromancy
A wierd book, describing how to revive 'Threads' on 'Messageboards' using vile method. Studying it gives the char +1 CL on necromancy spells and spells to reconstruct lost knowledge.

616. A publication about quintessence
A scientific method on how to use 'quintessence' to strenghen spells. Prepared Spellcaster can refer to this spell 1/week, to prepare one spell as if empowered, without increasing the spell slots.

617. Helpful Spybook
Stored next to another book, it copies the contents of it. When not copying another book it contains some insuspicious text, depending on the char carrying it.

As far as i can see both the d20pfsrd:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/style-feats
And the offical PRD:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/ultimateCombatFeats.html
Lists most of the feats, even within the feat chain as "style" feat. IMO this would allow a MoMS to pick it up via his bonus feats, while ignoring the prereq.

Sound like a good idea, I agree with master_marshmallow on weapon finesse as prereq

It really represents the witcher really well, i like it. But it is quite a bit stronger then other classes... And the only thing that offsets it is the high Fort Save to become one.

So you want a rogue build/guide that is defensivly strong, for at least level 1 to 5?

What kind of rogue should it be? More talking party face type or sneaky backstabber?
Its always a good idea to invest a bit into CON and maybe use your FCB for Hitpoints. Are you scared because your GM often does very hard sessions or why are you concerned?

599. The lazy cooks cookbook. A about 100 pages book filled with recipes. 1/day you can create one of the recipes without doing anything.

600. Life and Death of [Reader name here]. This book will detail anything notable that has happened to the reader, but only with things that he knows of. It will only be filled to the point where the reader picked up the book and starts reading. No matter how you read the book (looking over the shoulder, scrying, etc) it will only detail your life up to this point and never predict the futere. Its has a great worth to a collector of curiosities but is useless to the owner.

Hello Guys,
i had an idea to play a MMA fighter like char. So i was thinking doing the following:
Human
18Str
12Dex
14Con
10Int
12Wis
7Cha

Lvl 1: Mutagenic Mauler (Feats: Power Attack+Weapon Focus(unarmed Strike))
Lvl 2: MM
Lvl 3: MM (Dragon Style)
Lvl 4: Master of many Styles (Bonus Stunning fist, Bonus Jabbing Style)
Lvl 5: MomS(Bonus Jabbing Master, lvl5 Dragon Ferocity)

So i'd end up with:
+9 1W6+8
(Flurry)
+7/+7 1hit (1W6+8) 2hit (1W6+6 if 1st attack hit +2W6)
(Flurry with mutagen and power attack)
+7/+7 1hit (1W6+12) 2hit (1W6+9 if 1 1st attack hit +2W6)

Up to 4W6+21 Dmg at Lvl5.

Am I making any mistakes or doing smth not allowed? And if im not, do you have any tips to make my concept better?

87. The Party encounters a very friendly trader, who is in possession of many magical bags, which are stored within each other. He offers a huge selction of wares, all of which are curiosities, but quite useless. Bonus Points if a PC buys something.

88. The party encounters their "biggest fan" who wont stop following them around. Bonus Points if the party knocks him out and runs as fast as possible after some time.

89. Party encounters a kitsune, who has a permanent aura of Dominate Person, but isnt evil. Bonus Points if (s)he wants to get rid of it or find a possibility to turn it of, as there is none atm and (s)he is lonely. (Wizard party members or Party members with high SLA, can teach her/him how to suppress the Aura. If they dont fall victim to it themselves.)

90. In torrential rain the party seeks refuge in a cave and wakes a ancient dragon. He is friendly and quite interested in the current state of affairs, as he has slept for a long time. In exchange he either reward player with (magical) knowledge or stories of the past. Bonus Points if he is all like :"Everything was better in my times!"

Oh! I got it! This will be a challenge...

Kvothe, the Arcane, the Bloodless, Kingkiller, the Thunder, the Fire, the Broken Branch, and least known of all, Arliden's Son.

Well Misaka would need Primary Air Secondary Earth and Expanded Earth, but sadly thats not possible :(

For Kvothe I think Bard(Archivist) or Bard(Magician) would fit, but his magic isnt really replicatable with Paizo material afaik

Misaka Mikoto from "a certain scientific railgun" ?
Was thinking Air kineticist, but thats kinda missing the "railgun"...

I currently have just Studded Leather Armor for my character. How would I go about making it, say, +3 to my Armor Class?

Is this something that I can just buy based on Fame? How much would something like that cost? I've seen the charts but figured it would be better to just ask.

Thanks! :)

Im not sure if this is about pathfinder society and i dont know how its handled there, but the breakdown for the pure gold cost would be:

Base Price(x)
+Masterwork Quality(300GP)
+Enchantment(+1=1000GP / +2=4000GP / +3=9000GP)

If its already enchanted you only need to pay the difference, so if you'd have a Amor+1 and want to make +2, it would only cost you an additional 3000GP.

Even though you said no 3rd party material you might want to have a look at "In the company of dragons".
It contains a new race, the Taninim, which basically are true dragons, a new racial paragon class, with draconic class features and innate growth(start small and grow one category every 4 lvls), or rules to use paizo classes, sacrificing some abilities for growth.
I have only played the paragon class for like 6 Lvls, but it is pretty balanced.
You do get 3 natural attacks from the start, but you cannot wear armor effectivly. You get some natural armor to put up with that, but will lack in AC.

The "legacy of dragons" book has many classes with draconic features and the option to get a dragon as animal companion, but no option to play a true dragon.

396.
A Pseudodragon which followed the PCs since one or two days comes out during the evening. It has chosen to seek the party out as companions and will follow and support them as long as they dont perform any hostile action against it. After some time it is willing to help even with dangerous tasks.

397.
The Party finds a suitable cave to camp in. Upon further inspection they feel very cold air coming from deeper in the cave. If they chose to seek out the cause, they stumble about the hoard of a silver dragon... complete with ancient(subject to GM) silver dragon, which they wake with their presence. he isnt hostile and was sleeping the last few years/centuries. He is willing to share stories of ancient times, provide the party with information he has and may further their cause in other fitting ways, as long as he is righteous and just. In exchance he wants them to share the lastest happenings in the world with him. (He may or may not act in a "in MY times everything was better" fashion, upon hearing the parties stories)

398.
One of the party members wakes up to find himself alone. All of the others are missing. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what has happened a terrifying monster (subject to GM) appears, killing him after a short fight. He wakes up with a loud scream, waking all the party members and disrupting their sleep.

399.
While camping at some creepy place, the sentinel is hit by a poisoned blowgun dart and falls unconscious. Upon waking up they find grave stones erected at the upper ends of their bedrolls.

400.
After waking up they find that the party has grown, a kitsune sorceress (subject to GM) is sleeping at their campsite. A number of party members has been effected by mind-altering magic, making them believe she has been with them since the beginning and is their old friend. The party has to figure out, if the ones who say they know her, or the ones that say she is new have been effected by memory altering magic. (only works if your players are good roleplayers) If attacked she flees using illusion and charms/compulsions, without hurting anyone if possible. If not attacked she follows and helps the party until she is bored of them.

Thanks for the replies ;)

Just have a swashbuckler fight a barbarian with the "Come and get me" rage power. Shenanigans ensue!

That wouldnt end well for the barbarian^^

Swa attacks
Barb get AoO
AoO gets parried
Barb gets AoO
etc
^^

PS: And the best thing:
The swashbuckler would parry before attacking, since Come and Get me is resolved prior to the Attack and Opportune Parry and Riposte is resolved before that^^

Actually, I'd take weapon focus cestus, with the intention of going down the outslug style. Outslug is great on swashbucklers, especially when combined with a blue scarf swordmasters flair.

Well its going to be a oneshot session, so i probably wont be able to get that style, but i#ll keep it in mind, if i am going to build another swashbuckler.

Traits: Fate's Favored, Blade of Mercy

1SB (+Weapon Finesse) / Weapon Focus: Scimitar
2SF
3SF Dervish Dance
4SF
5SF Crusader's Flurry: Scimitar

Fervor Spells: Divine Favor, Empowered Cure Moderate Wounds
Blessings: Good - Holy Weapon / Healing - Powerful Healer

Scimitar +1
Belt of Dexterity +2
Bracers of Armor +1
Swordmaster's Flair: Blue Scarf
Plume of Panache

Two flurry attacks per round...

This is a great idea but it doesnt rly fit my backstory, but i will play it sometime cuz its a rly great idea.

If i somehow provoke an AoO from an enemy, can I parry it via OPaR?
It specifies "when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the swashbuckler", so does an AoO count?

Thanks in Advance,

Imbicatus wrote:

1 point of panache is easily replaced.

Free weapon focus is nice, but you are stuck with only rapiers.
+1 damage is a minor loss, but it's only a trait.

The ability to regain panache on kills is huge. You you are using a high crit weapon with free improved critical, but there are times when you roll badly, and there are many times where you threaten but don't confirm.

So you too would advise me, to go straight swashbuckler, drop piranha strike and effortless sash and get swordmasters flair?

I am going to lose weapon focus(rapier) and have one feat open;
should i use that to grab weapon focus again or is there a better choice, I probably wont be able to take anything that has weapon focus as a prerequisite and its just +1 attack bonus, afterall.

BadBird wrote:

Just take Weapon Specialization for +2 with no downside. People often skip Piranha/Power on Swashbuckler since it already has Precise Strike, and it's tougher to parry with an attack penalty. It's useful to take Power Attack for Cornugon Smash, but that's beyond your current situation.

Actually, you might want to consider not going Inspired Blade if you're able to spare the free feat. It's really attractive to get free focus and a larger Panache pool, but only getting Panache from critical hits and never from killing blows is actually a huge, huge hurdle, especially at a level where you don't score many crits.

I had considered Weapon Specialization and i think if i stick with inspired Blade i will take it.

If I drop Inspired Blade I lose:
1 point Panache
Weapon Focus(Rapier)
+1 Dmg on rapiers
For:
Ability to restore Panache with kills.

I am rly unsure about that, as i already threaten crit 30% of the time.

Hi,
i will soon start a game as a Lvl 5 Swashbuckler(Inspired Blade.
We are starting with 10500GP.
At the moment i think im going to buy:
Rapier+1
Effortless Lace
Chainshirt+1
Buckler+1
Plume of Panache
Handy Haversack

I am unsure about the Effortless lace. It gives me the ability to use piranha strike with my rapier, but it costs 2500Gp and a feat just to get
-2 Attack and +4 Dmg. And this will probably just be a one time session, so our regular GM (me) can play once in while, so piranha strike wont scale up.
I could ditch both of these and get me a swordmasters flair, which gives me some great utility and frees up a feat.
Which of those alternatives would you prefer and if you gonna go for swordmasters flair+free feat - which feat would you take instead of piranha strike?
I already have Weapon finesse + Focus, fencing grace, improved critical, antagonize and combat reflexes.

Thanks in Advance,
Rayek

@Saivlin First of all, thanks for the extensive answer. You confirmed most of my thoughts, but as long as I am not missing something, both bard and magus recieve the same amount of spells per day?

@taks Thanks for the answer. What would have been a more appropiate subforum to post the question with my intention?

@Arcane Addict Thanks for your answer. I will keep an open dialogue as you suggested. I'm mostly confident about it though, was just checking if I am overlooking potentially OP combos.

Hi,
I am not quite sure if I found the right forum for this, as I need advice, a general rule answer as well as 3pp rules answers and advice^^

One of my player wants to play a magus and wants to use these archetypes:
Extempressario
Cabalist
Now both of these change magus spells, one modifies knowledge pool and the other replaces it.
At the moment I would tend to allow it, using the following ruling:
Spells get changed as written in the Extempressario.
Knowledge Pool gets replaced as written the Cabalist.

Now my Question is:
Does that solve my issue or is there anything I am overlooking?
And secondly:
In my opinion these archetypes make him a bit weaker, but that might just be my own limited knowledge. Would allowing this make him (a lot) more powerful?

Thanks in advance,
Rayek

You can't fly prior to getting the ability to fly that happens at lvl 4.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. ;)

Greetings,
I am looking for someone who knows when Taninim gain their flight speed. The racial traits only say they have a base speed of 30ft but nothing about a flight speed. The Draconic Exemplars lvl 4 ability Dracomorphosis says they gain the ability to fly at a speed of 60ft. Am I unable to fly until lvl 4 or can i fly at a speed of 30ft up to lvl 4 and increasing it to 60ft at lvl 4?
Right now i am thinking its the former.
Thanks in advance,

I generally like Sylvan Sorcerer, taking Boon Companion by third at the latest. Having a pet wolf to help out in combat frees my Sorc to take fun spells at low levels. Sure, you could take Sylvan or Infernal to boost DCs, but that means you'll be ending fights in a very boring fashion. Sleep is a one-round casting time, and I always regret taking it. By the time the casting is done, you can't cast on multiple enemies without hitting allies.

The Sylvan blood line seems quite fitting for a kitsune, but i am trading away all the things (+2DC and pierce SR) that makes ppl recommend the fey bloodline in the 1st place. Is it worth considering just for the companion?

Nohwear wrote:
Depending on the campaign, Impossible and Serpentine bloodlines can very very helpful by allowing you to affect constructs and animal, respectively, with your enchantment spells.

I do not have that much info about the setting but i think it will be quite normal and we will be facing humanoids, since its his 1st session. Also I feel like those bloodline dont really fit a kitsune.

Afterall i am split between the fey bloodline that gets recommended over and over and the arcane bloodline that tends to get rated as the the best overall bloodline for sorcerers...

What books do you own? Is it short enough to list? Are you willing to buy more? Are you willing to buy a book for just one or two things for this character? I am sorry for the barrage of questions, but I need to know how to limit my answers. Also keep in mind that any advice that I will give you will be based more on what I would find interesting then what is most powerful.

I own APG,ACG,Bestiary1+2,CRB,UCampaign,UCombat,UMagic,UEquipment and also have access to the pfsrd. I have to check with my gm about things that are allowed, so 3rd party may be fine. Buying new books depends on the price of the book and the availability of the contents via pfsrd.

I am fine with fluffy option rather than powergaming, but i'd like to at least carry my own weight and not be useless in all but one thing. Currently i am going for Face(Cha 20 and Bluff/Intimidate/Diplomacy as class skills) and CC in fights.

Greetings,
I am currently building a kitsune sorcerer and i am unsure about which bloodline to take. Most people online lean towards the fey bloodline for the arcana... But it feels kinda lackluster to me.
Is +2 DC worth it that much?
I also having issues while choosing my 1st lvl Spells. At the moment i think i am going to settle for charm person and color spray but that is not making any use of my arcana.
Other spells i might take, are sleep or hypnotism, but to me it feels like they are worse than color spray in combat and worse than charm person in social situations. Should i consider different spells or got with the mentioned ones until i gain additional spells?

Thank in advance for your help,
Rayek

Okay, Thanks for the answers. I think i might just check back with my GM and ask him and I'll tell him the race is a bit stronger than the core ones. I hope it wont be too much of a problem since we arent powergaming much and so i probably wont choose ridicusly OP combinations... And even if i do i'll just be careful not to overshadow anyone else^^

Hello,
I would like to play as a Bloodborn (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/3rd-party-races/lost-spheres-publishing/bloo dborn). We are using ~ 10RP and a 15 Point Buy. As i am quite new to the game, I would like to ask how strong this race is, when compared to other races with about 10 RP?
