New episode!

Some good parts, some bad parts

Seeing Ford/Hopkins again was nice, but having him take over Benard again for his nefarious plans was annoying. Having Ford as a ghost who perhaps muses on how ironic it was that he is a powerless shadow would be an interesting angle but here we have him casually manipulating everyone again.

The pre-destruction scene at the Cradle was DUMB! I was cringing through the whole thing. Some C4/Grenades strapped to her body when she turned around would have been cliche but not offensive.

Williams not being a host would be a let down since he has taken enough damage to ensure bleeding out. Plus his Batmaning away from the area while injured was dumb.

This season has grown more on me as its progressed. I loved this week's episode, even though the super dumb "let the seduction bot kill me" scene was the worst thing ever.

HAHA, a work conversation totally had a flashback to the Guard v Seduction bot scene from a classic film 21 years ago...

Bring in the femBOTS!

According the show's logic so far, he can't be a host. All human minds in host bodies deteriorate to madness within a few days.

It's why Ford has to section himself off within Bernard, and not actually be Bernard.

William has already shown us he has access to advanced medical care. Remember he broke into the wall of that bar and got out a medkit. The technology level is such that they can fabricate entirely lifelike bodies, so repairing relatively uncomplicated flesh wounds and broken bones would not be out of the realm of possibility for a field kit. Multiple abdominal wounds would probably still be tricky, as well as any nerve damage.

With present day technology, multiple gunshot wounds to the chest cavity can be nonfatal as long as you're in a hospital within 15 minutes. A single gunshot wound is usually fine if you're there within an hour.

Twenty years ago, multiple gunshot wounds was basically fatal, and thirty+ years ago the the single gunshot was often life-threatening. Imagine another hundred years of progress on that pathway.

Oh this episode.

My wife is convinced that William is full on bot, which I don't agree with, but the whole thing with the knife at the end of the episode has me questioning. Plus his whole thing with his arm during the gala flashback. I mean last season it was a thruline that the maze was for the hosts, not William, and to flop that in the last week of the season would be a bit unnerving.

Maybe he's extracting something that he augmented himself with? I guess we'll see next week. With Maeve full on wizard'ing it up in the teaser!

Spoiler:
RIP Emily and Teddy. :(

I like how they show even after Emily patches him up at the rally point (convenient medkit for the win!), he is hobbling around. They may have medkits, but its no cure all.

I'm just... Ugh. I would have been fine with the ending of Bernard walking out Arnold's front door, but then William's loose end ... Becomes a looser end.

The crouching Bernard hidden Delores was a fun twist.

I also found it neat that the Forge AI took on the appearance of it's primary subject's core drive.

Now this begs the realest question:

Spoiler:
So some MiB is confirmed to be immortality William from the Forge. How much though is the frustrating part. Was real William there doing James Delos' fidelity, or was this a Delores / Bernard bot on bot interview. The arm jiggle at the gala in his flashback presumes that his bot has been in the wild. This bothers me as a huge dangling thread that I'm gonna presumably have to wait 18+ months to resolve.

Conversely, is Emily at the end real Emily, or did she die, or was that an Emily bot that he shot?

Wizard Maeve was awesome though.

I binge watched Episodes 1-9 this week, leaving only the finale to watch tonight, and I still wasn't able to keep things straight. Bernard's unindexed memories as a mechanism for jumping around to different points in time is a clever storytelling device, but makes things too confusing [for me.]

Weaker season than the first season. Ford had good lines of course but I was lukewarm on everything except the Woke Nation.

Third season's first episode just dropped.

Good grief, I thought the story was over.

Yeap, that James Bond like season 3 was rough.

I'll be skipping it. Third season was disappointing with all the katana kung-fu and leaving the island behind.

I'm not sure who I should be surprised is or isn't a robot and or is or is not experiencing time weirdly

This season has been kind of weird so far. I saw the time jump thing coming, but not in that way. I’m hoping we get to see more of Roaring 20s World. And I’m glad we’re not done with Maeve yet. She’s one of my favorites.

Season four is done, and I’m fairly disappointed. Very doom and gloom, with the apparent death knell of the human race, and all that’s left to fight over is The Sublime. Although, I do kind of call bull humanity’s end. Statistically, there are probably at least enough outlier survivors running around in the wastelands to at least make a go of it.

Not sure I’ll bother watching another season. If they even have one with all the shake ups at Warner-Discovery. Depends on how bored I am.

It's ok, I'm sure this is all part of west world world world or something

I kinda liked it. Wife was openly confused and she is by far more into it than I am. But I thought it was okay, at the same time I thought this was the last episode ever.

This take also VERY much comes across as a prequel to this.

‘Westworld’ Canceled at HBO After Four Seasons

Can’t say I’m surprised. I guess this is part of the reported $2 billion Zaslav told investors he wants to cut.

I shed no tears over this news.

The last episode immediately felt like a series finale to me.

That said, while I still overall enjoyed the season, it was the weakest by far. It had a lot of nearly fatal flaws that would have absolutely wrecked a more poorly run show (GOT anyone?), but in the end, the landing was okay. Not great, not necessarily even good, but okay.

I'd still recommend the show overall, though I would caveat that by saying it's okay to stop watching the show after any of the season finales. The overall quality/intensity of the show drops off every season.

I stopped at the 3rd season. Good enough ending and things had gone off the rails too much.
