Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

Greetings,

I am a big fan of the acg, but I have never played in society. I have signed up for the season of goblin as well as the interactive special. What do I need to bring with me in order to play?

Thanks for the help!

John

All you need is a class deck. If you don't have one, there may be some loaners available, but owning your own is best since you can keep playing over multiple sessions.

Bringing a few dice can't hurt.

Thanks Hawkmoon!

Now is the goblin season as well as the special geared toward playing a goblin, or can I just play anything?

Season of the Goblin, while tuned to allow maximum enjoyment for those purchasing Goblin Fight! and Goblin Burn! decks, is going to be open to all class decks. So anything is possible to play.

An item of note: as far as we have been told, the PFS Interactive Special will allow two tier brackets of play for ACG, Tiers 1-3 and Tiers 4-6. (Which means that completed characters cannot play in the special since they are technically Tier 7.)

If you're able to get out and play with a couple decks beforehand, it might help guide you to what you want to play. There are a lot of class decks now and a lot of characters that are very viable to play.

On a related topic, are there deck requirements for the Open Tournament? I'm new to the card game, should I try to build up a good deck before then, or does everyone use a new deck for the tournament?

Thanks!

The tournament (assuming it's the same as last year) will have prebuilt decks. Every team uses the same four characters to make things equal.

Is there truly a ruleset for advancing to Tier 7 or is that just an assumption?

When you complete an adventure you must advance a Tier. If, for example, you're Tier 6 and you complete Adventure 6 of a Season, you advance to Tier 7.

You could also advance early if you want (after four Scenarios).

Going from 6 to 7 is no different than going from 2 to 3.

If you really want to play your Tier 7 characters again, just play them in adventure 6 of another adventure path. That way, you can get to Tier 8.

Last year there was a blog post before Gen Con listing the four characters for the tournament. It was Runelords Ezren, Wrath Kyra, CD Merisiel, and Skull&Shackles Valeros.

That post was about two weeks before the Con, so I'm expecting something similar this year in a couple weeks.
