How is this a spoiler? Or did you not expect emo-boy to show up again?

Dark Archive

Well

Spoiler:
Ren showing up with the Knights of Ren while Rey trains with Luke counts as a spoiler mate.

I guess we have different definitions of spoilers. To me, a proper spoiler needs to be:
1) (most importantly) unexpected
2) meaningful to the story. I don't mean just 'influences the story' but is an element that is pivotal to it

Ren showing up in this movie is very expected and I doubt it will be anything like the spoiler-worthy elements in stories like "I am legend", "Sixth sense" or "Watchmen"

Is the spoiler you refer to from I am Legend:

Spoiler:
That they completely messed up the ending.

So I had a thought about Rey.

Some have thought that she may be the real chosen one, the kid of obi wan, or other things, but I suddenly had a different thought.

Maz Kanata said that the light saber belonged to her, or something like that, if I recall correctly.

What if, Rey is actually a female clone/version of Luke Skywalker. Therefore, anything he knew when she was made, she would know inherently, but it might have to be unlocked? That would also mean, that the lightsaber may actually, truly, belong to her.

It would also be fitting that she be the one that finds Luke Skywalker, as in effect, she is him, as he is her...in a weird, roundabout way of thinking.

Predictions for SW VIII:

-Finn and rebel alliance are attacked by first order on snowy ice planet.

-Kylo Ren hires bounty hunters to find Finn and Rey

-Luke trains Rey, but Finn and pals get into trouble and Rey leaves before completing her training to help them.

-Finn's father is Lando Calrissian portrayed by unknown actor, but face CGI'd to look like Billy Dee Williams.

-BB8 gets blown up and chewie has to repair it.

-bounty hunters freeze chewie in carbonite and captain phrasma takes him to tatoonie and hands him over to the Huts.

-Luke dies in battle with kylo ren after disabling tractor beam from sky city allowing Rey and gang to escape.

-Luke talks to Rey from spirit world and guides her in x-wing to blow up 4th death star base.

All jokes of course :)......I hope :(

My cynical prediction is that the mysteries of Episode VII have no real answer, because that's how Abrams rolls. He's fond of just throwing mysterious things out there while having no actual answer - see Lost for example. He leaves it to future writers to just figure out a solution which is why the answers to his mysteries are generally unsatisfying.

That having been said, and hoping I'm wrong about it, here's my predictions:
Rey will turn out to be a Skywalker through some connection, in fact my call is that she was trained while very young and doesn't consciously remember her training. That explains why she picked up the Force stuff so fast.

I think she was around during the Kylo Ren incident, and because he was struggling with the light side he couldn't bring himself to kill a little girl, so he dumped her on Jakku. But he let everyone else think she was dead. This explains Kylo's reaction when told about the girl on Jakku.

Movie? What movie? There is no fairly recent movie adaptation of that book.

Especially not one that entirely missed the point of the novel.

That... actually makes some sense. I already feel like she was there since her visions when she touched Anakin's saber were either A) Events that occurred with the lightsaber present (Bespin), or B) Her past. She has a blood connection to that lightsaber for sure. It also seemed as though Kylo SAVED her from someone else in that vision.

Other theories of mine include:

1- When Rey & Chewie arrive at the Resistance base, Leia goes straight to Rey, someone whom she "just met" and skipping Chewbacca, someone she's known for 30+ years. The ONLY reasoning in my mind for this is that Leia is either Rey's mother (plausible, but doubtful), or aunt (more likely).

2- R2 went into a self-induced "powered down mode" when Luke left. He didn't power up until Rey arrived in the Resistance Base. R2 has been around Jedi/Force Sensitive individuals for a LONG time (Anakin, Leia, Luke). My theory is that due to this long-term exposure to the Force, R2 could sense a Skywalker entering the base, possibly one that Luke had instructed R2 to only activate and provide the missing map piece when the time was right, i.e. in the presence of Skywalker's heir when she was ready.

3- Luke looked confused and saddened when he saw Rey. Almost as if he was thinking "Why are you here? You should be safe somewhere."

IMO she is undoubtedly a Skywalker, as the Saga (Episodes 1-9) are about the Skywalker line. Technically yes, Ben/Kylo is part of the family line, but he's not a Skywalker... He's a Solo.

We shall see, however, in one year's time.

My personal theory about Rey.

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Obi Wan realised that a) he had wasted ten years trying to train a selfish whiney brat and not got any thanks for doing so and b) as he was now the last Jedi standing there was no council of masters to tell him off if he broke the rules.

So, he went on a decade long sex'n'drugs'n'rock'n'roll tour of the galaxy, before retiring to Tatooine to see what whiney brat, the second generation, was up to. (All that wild living had aged him considerably, compare pictures of young Obi Wan and old Obi Wan).

Rey is his granddaughter, but no one has a clue about her existence because her grandad the Jedi master didn't know his one night stand with a cute Jedi-wannabe groupie had had any long term results...

Never bought into that whole Jedi had to suppress their emotions thing.
It was not love of Padme that brought Anakin down, it was fear of losing her and the fact that he hid everything from other Jedi.
The only person he told about killing the Tuskin Raiders was Palpatine, and no one knew Padme and Anakin were married or that she was pregnant.
She didn't even know she was having twins because she was never examined by a doctor. Who knows what complications she may have had?

*nods*

To Jedi, emotions are a river and you should sit on a rock in the middle of said river and never interact with it.

To Sith, drown yourself in the river.

I believe the correct course of action is to learn to swim.

"Love doesn't lead to the dark side. Passion can lead to rage and fear, and can be controlled... but passion is not the same thing as love. Controlling your passions while being in love... that's what they should teach you to beware. But love itself will save you... not condemn you" - Jolee Bindo to protagonist

Sidenote: Jolee why aren't you canon anymore?! You were the best Jedi!

I loved the movie. I understand people who loved the book would not.

In one episode of the Clone Wars series, Obi-Wan and Anakin must protect the leader of the New Mandalorians, Duchess Satine Kryze, from militant insurgents. It turns out that Obi-Wan and the queen had a romantic history, and by the end of the episode he straight up tells her that if she had asked, he would have left the Order. Now, it COULD be possible that Obi-Wan and the queen had a child together, but she was eventually assassinated by Maul. Could they have had a child that Obi-Wan didn't know about? Sure, but unlikely.

I think it was more likely a "I've screwed up so much, and now I'm being called back in again." kind of feeling.

Or accept what Abrams himself as admitted to... that they screwed up that scene.

Oh did he say that? I hadn't heard.

Liberty's Edge

JJ Talks about scene here.

He says He should have at least shot it differently so it did'nt look like Chewie walks right past Leia after such a big loss for them both.

I can accept why He said Chewie did it though.

What I'm surprised about is I would think when they filmed that scene, other people would have mentioned to JJ how that looked.

Not seeing anything to indicate Chewie doing nothing but just walking into the background - the way I rationalised it was that he was feeling pretty pissed at Leia and was blanking her....

..Han had written off Ben/Kylo and Chewie would have known that and understood his reasons why. Leia piles on the emotional pressure to 'save' their son, indirectly putting Han in a position to be killed by Kylo. Chewie probably didn't feel like hugging it out...

Cheers
Mark

He failed in his life debt. Add that to Chewie's inner monologue.

My prediction is phasma will be dispatched clumsily and unwittingly by one of the good guys. Then a decade or two from we will get phasma origins movie by popular request.

Anyone else kind of meh about this title. I really don't why but it just doesn't make me excited for the film.

Plus, it makes me think that Luke is gonna get Han'ed.

Scarab Sages

I'd like to think that Luke is the last Jedi, and Rey will become something more, a Gray Side master of the whole force. The Jedi are dead, long live the Jedi.

I hope this means we get to see Luke as a proper jedi master, with an appropriate enemy. Not some emo, wanabe sith, man-child, or whatever that excuse for an imperial commander was, star wars had strong villains, even the prequel trilogy got that right.

The title could refer to Luke and Rey at the same time. Jedi is both singular and plural.

Anyone who's ever watched a proper chop-socky film knows that the mentor always buys the farm in order to motivate the student. Besides it's sort of traditional with Jedi... especially in the Skywalker line.

If you've got the Skywalker midichlorians, you're a Skywalker, no matter what your last name happens to be. (There was even a feat for that in the Star Wars D20 book.) Or are you going to say that Leia is not a Skywalker?
