Gen Con from California?

Anyone going to Gen Con who lives in California? I have gas money and snacks to offer if you are driving.

Considering California is ~770 miles long and Indy is ~2,100 miles away, where in California is not an insignificant variable in this equation.

You might want to be more specific...

You might have more luck on the GenCon forums.

hrm ... just cause I was curious .. I was doing some maths ... you might fight it cheaper to drive by the time you figure roughly 3 days on the road (2 nights in hotels); roughly 140 gallons in gas, food and drinks on the road -- and when I did the google search for distance it said flight started at 584 -- that's like an extra 200 you save by flying you can spend in the vendor hall lol

Try the sacramento PFS facebook group possibly?

I know last year a bunch of people drove from Sacramento to Paizo con, in two cars, with everyone but the driver playing PFS the whole way up. They called it Caravan-con

That sounds like fun for everyone, but being the driver (while it's understood for safety purposes) would "suck" to hear an adventure you can't play.

One way on Amtrak is about $190. And you can play Pathfinder at a table. 55 hour trip.

Taking a train to Gen Con and getting to play most of that trip sounds Awesome! Almost makes me wish I didn't live so close to Indy!

We made sure to make it an entertaining session to listen to. Kind of like a live, interactive podcast.

For those curious, we played 02-25 You Only Die Twice, with two players in one car, the GM and remaining player in the other, with a walkie talkie app on our phones, if memory serves. No minis or map, just theatre of the mind style RP. For dice rolls, we either used electronic rollers or dice trays.

More to the original topic: Google Maps suggests it should take 30 hours to drive (at highway speed) from Sacramento to Indianapolis. A flight takes about 5 hours. I know which I'd choose.

If you played 6 games on the way from Sacremento, I'd join in that action! (If I lived west of Indianapolis)

I got my plane ticket back in like March, but I might go for scheduling something for next year.
