But what if...[SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!]

Hell's Vengeance

They already sold their soul.

See according to the Thrune article in the second book, that the PCs are expected to pledge their soul to Asmodeus, but what if they've already become a Demoniac, or Souldrinker and have already bargained their soul away.

Does Asmodeus get first dibs, or does he have to get in line.

I ask because we're expecting a Kitsune Witch of Jezelda in the party. :-)

I would suggest that the problem is not going to be a problem if you don't make the mistake of dying and staying dead long enough to go through the judgement that sends you downstairs. Assuming the individual is competent at what they do, there will not be a problem.

We can do better than that. :-)

Looking at the adventure path, it can be pretty brutal. And they're evil, so I'm not pulling punches.

Don't worry, it won't be a problem. The Thrune agent info in Thrune article is just a brief overview. As it says at the end of that article, "For more information...see Pathfinder Adventure Path #106: For Queen & Empire." Full details will come later, and your concerns will be addressed. :)

As far as I know you can refuse the offer to become more than a Thrune Agent. In Wrath of Thrune the text for swearing to be a Loyal Thrune Agent only says "If the PCs accept..." and doesn't reveal any consequences for not swearing it.

I don't think every PC is bound to swear his/her soul to hell. It is more like a temptation. The pledges give certain boons and higher social standing with certain NPCs. And the first two parts seem like to have no consequences for the PC whatsoever, seducing them to further pledge their souls to the cause.

If at least one PC swears all pledges, it should be enough. NPCs will probably treat him/her with much more respect than the others, who are regarded at simple mercenaries. Use that. The Pledges should be a temptation, not an obligation.

As for the question:

Demoniacs and Souldrinkers lose their class-abilities, if they go against the will of their demonic/daemonic masters, and pledging your soul to Asmodeus is a BIG offense. So you shouldn't let your Demoniac do it.

Conversly, Ex-Demoniacs/Ex-Souldrinkers lose their class-features when falling from their lords graces, which also includes 'Damned'. So I would say that Asmodeus is the one claiming

As a side note: What if one or more PC is/are Diabolist, Devil Boung creature, etc?

Speaking of Devil Bound, no rules for being bounded to Hell's higher ups?

Iirc, even taking into account infighting between multiple devil factions, at the end of the day all of them are ultimately loyal to Asmodeus, so there's no functional conflict.

For the Devil Bound, I was more asking about the mechaniques; stats bonuses, spell like abilities, etc if bonded to Infernal Dukes, Whore Queens, ArchDevils or Asmodeus Himself?

Have you read Constantine? If they get infamous enough, the soul is TOO desirable. With multiple owners and no clause for sharing or precedence, because who sells their soul twice, it would cause a war too hot for even such a valuable soul.

Johnny does have writer fiat though so he wiggles out when others get nailed. Like how Joker is still alive despite all of his atrocities.
