Before I take a shot at unchaining the eldritch scoundrel I thought I'd request a change on something that affects another of my characters...

The Scorpion Whip.

Currently PFS uses the description in the Adventurer's Armoury, a soft cover that has only had one reprinting.

Back in May the whip was FAQed for Ultimate Combat, the more recent publication/ To date, the AR uses the older, less common source of the weapon.

The clarification of the Scorpion Whip makes it clear how the item interacts with both just whip proficiency and with proficiency in both.

It's time to use the most recent version, the wider published version.

Free the scorpion whip.

I was under the impression that's exactly what already happened?

[nitpick]It's actually one of the very few soft covers to have received a second printing; the first printing isn't legal for PFS[/nitpick]

I should have linked the [url=http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1g1#v5748eaic9t9r[/url] from 2015. Second printing of AA is 2011. The AA whip has reach/trip/disarm properties, the UC one only has perform. The UC version now actually rewards someone who takes proficiency in the scorpion whip as it no longer is a reach weapon, but is a lethal reach weapon for someone proficient in the whip. Thus it rewards someone who does both.

Nefreet

[nitpick]It was reprinted once. Thus it has had only one reprinting[/nitpick.] :-)

O.o

Yup. Got me there.

Looking at the FAQ it seems that they meant that the UC version with the clarification was to be the only legal version. Am I missing something?

Jessex, the Additional Resources says only the Adventurer's Armory Scorpion Whip is legal, not the UC or UE version.

Now the reason I want the new version of the old item is simple... style.

the Ultimates scorpion whip, using EWP Scorpion Whip is a non reach weapon that threatens the surrounding area. For people using it with EWP Whip, it has 15' reach, doesn't provoke, and does lethal damage.

For someone who takes the time to invest in both feats, they get a cute flexible tool.
