Oh I basically took yesterday as a holiday. I loafed, I napped, I watched the endless FXX Simpsons for a while (I basically have only seen about 15% of the show, so a lot of them are new to me)
I was ready to get all the little darlings to school. It was hairy on the elementary run though. A lot of tricky turn offs and missing street signs. I ended up 10 minutes late to school , but better late and safe I say.

Just went to Geek Squad to get the innards of my computer cleaned for the first time in five years. Overheating problem is basically gone, but it's freaking me out that I can't hear the fans going full blast all the time.
I went to Geek Squad, once.
My just year old flat screen tv had just stopped working on opening day of [redacted] season.
When I took it in, the a~+@+#+ said my warranty had just expired the day before and "it sucks to be you"
I've never been back to BestBuy and I never will.

I went to geek squad once, with my old netbook. It had picked up a virus that was really messing with it. They wiped the hard drive. I lost everything that was on there.
Soooo.....I've never gone back to them with anything.

Yeah I did have take them my laptop last year, for some reason (never found out why) my laptop stopped recognizing my login credentials. As if my user account didn't exist. But when I logged in with Safe Mode, I could dig through the hard drive and find everything. (?!?!?wtf?!?!)Long story short, they did manage to get it back, but I made darn sure to download everything I didn't want to lose onto a large USB drive first. Just in case. :)
I seriously stopped trying to call/use Geek Squad when I called them with a problem, told them everything I had done to try and examine the situation, and the Geek Squad tech told me over the phone "Well, you've done everything that I could do." (Which wasn't much, apparently) ;P
Finally got one to admit that the 'techs' at the store didn't know much (I'm not saying that's ALL of them, just what this one person said about this store) but they all had a USB drive with various programs on it to fix problems. IF the USB couldn't fix it, then they had to ship it off to a center with 'techs' who actually knew what they were doing! :P
I am seriously in the wrong business. :/

On the other hand, I DO vacuum my desktop 'game' PC regularly. (And the family PC)
I only open it once a year or 2, but regularly vacuum all of the intake, fans, etc to keep them clear. Seems to be working, no heat-related problems that I am aware of. And I live in Lousy-anna! ;)

Cracked open my tower after reading this thread. Surprisingly little dust in there considering the cat and Australian Shepard. I suppose the fur is a little big to get into the vents.
Good tower boxes with properly set ventilation are supposed to be like that.

One thing that helps out with disassembling / reassembling a laptop is to take an 18 count egg carton and use that for the screws. The top left one is # 1 and the bottom right one is #18. Just put the screws in there in order of removal.

~sighs~ I can't believe that I have been to Nashville, TN over 5 times and I never know about this place. OTOH, I did get to visit this place a few times. It was well worth the trip just for that place.

A large part depends on your agent, and not just the company as a whole.
That being said we were with Allstate for the longest before they dropped us for "claims made". Yes, our insurance dropped us for actually using our insurance. The claims in question, 3, were spread out over 8 years, and 2 of them we weren't at fault -_-
Went with Safeco for a bit but it was crap, didn't have any claims thankfully but just dealing with them was a pain in the ass, aside from the very nice and competent lady that signed us up they couldn't get their s$@~ together.
With State Farm right now and everything seems to be going good, cheaper too.

USAA here. The rates are decent, since their insurance pool is limited to military and families. They've treated my accidents fairly well.
I don't know if you have any military folk in your immediate family, but if you do they are a decent company.

To be fair the only way to remove a virus is to completely wipe everything off and reinstall everything from scratch.

I use Progressive. They are the lowest priced and extremely fair and responsive after an accident. But then my frame of reference is small consisting of previous State Farm membership and about a half dozen new insurance hunts.
We've been going through Geico, they're pretty cool. They never mind if we need to delay a payment until payday, and were outstanding when our car was totalled, and gave us a more then fair amount for it.
Also, they're pretty cheap. :-)
