Magical Manifest Destiny (a campaign thought)
The continent of Avardiel was peacefully occupied by a race of wood elves who integrated with the surrounding ecosystem and derived much of their magic in Druidic form. Then the Bartok Empire arrived.
Riding ships with their Sun God's Sigil on the sails, the human Bartokites and their vassals the Gurm landed on the eastern shore of Avardiel and immediately set about conquering. The Avardielians were unprepared, and arcane magic was an unknown discipline among them. The Bartokites were masters of arcane magic, having honed their craft through centuries of warfare. They lured the Gurm, an ogre-like race, into alliance with offers of loot and new lands to settle much more pleasant than their Subarctic island continent.
Now the Avardiel face a foes with unknown powers and strong armies of Giants. Their culture is ill-equipped to fight off the newcomers, but fight them they must, or perish from the face of Avardiel forever.

The battle for the dream sea
Within the Deep Ethereal, lies the Dreamlands. Expressed as an ocean, the souls of dreaming mortals swim placidly as fish and crustaceans with its depth. Occasionally, a highly-skilled adept , a mortal in extreme delirium , or a comatose mortal can travel to the Dreamlands as themselves. The Plains of Leng border this land, as do several less horrific lands.
Past the Dreamlands lie only the Vast, a featureless ocean of blackest night. The Dream Moon rides above it, home to the fell Moon Beasts and their black galleys. No one has returned from any voyage into the Vast. However, recently there have been tales of strange things being sighted out in that open stretch of water. Is it a new land? Or are the things stirring out there very very old?

Where are you going, Patrick? The wilds of Canadia?
I am! More exactly, Cape Breton, the jewel of the North Atlantic. The closest thing to Scotland without setting foot in Europe. I will be staying in Ingonish and attending my cousin's wedding. I might try to take a perusal around the Bras D'or lakes as well. Truly some great scenery

I know Cape Breton for their friendly attitude towards US immigrants.

Tourism ploy. They, like any rural people, are fairly clannish. They welcome visitors but I doubt there'd be a lot of love if a huge amount of Yanks emigrated up there post-trump.
But, I could be wrong. They are very nice people. I've just sounded out moving up there before and been gently dissuaded.

Will return soon as services are restored

Not one thin dime in tips. Then, I get a call after I've left (30 mins after I left mind you) saying 'hey there's still people here, you left early'. Which I DIDN'T. :(
Asshats
That sucks.
Do you at least get paid extra for going back?
Straight hourly, yeah. I would have rather just gone home.

Would that be sufficient reason to temporarily lift your ban on going to New York?Since I don't drink cocktails, probably not. I'm mostly a beer and mead kind of guy. Especially when it's home brewed.....
Not to mention, there's always a good rauchbier, which pretty much tastes like liquid bacon. I can find those many places.
I did not know there are Rauchbiere in the US.
It is a spceciality in the City of Bamberg in the Frankonia region of Bavaria with two leading breweries: Spezial and Schlenkerla

The ones I'm familiar with were all from brewpubs and craftbrewers. I've also got a home brewing buddy who did one. I love them. Haven't found anywhere in Houston that sells them yet.
