Alternative Encounter Ideas in the Devil's Nursery?

Hell's Rebels

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I'll be running Hell's Rebels soon, and I've got a party together.

I won't be running the encounter in Redroof with the:

Spoiler:
tooth fairies

because one of my players is uncomfortable with that particular type of nastiness.

Does anyone have suggestions for alternate encounters to help out the tieflings of Redroof? The rumors that lead to the encounter are vague enough that I could easily replace the written encounter with something else. Would you replace them with similar creatures? What would be appropriate considering how that trouble originally sprang up (namely, some nefarious interference from one of Thrune's minions)?

So as I understand it, your players are either uncomfortable with teeth being pulled or murdered children (both make my skin crawl). No problem, here are some alternative ideas.
1.)Tiflings are a very oppressed minority in Chealix, even in Kintargo. Perhaps with the rise of Thrune, some anti-teifling members of Kintargo feel that the current government would overlook or even encourage abuse of Tiflings. Your players can go in and defend the Tiflings from these thugs, and maybe even save an important ethnic leader.
2.)Bazaralli Thrune (sp?) seems to be particularly petty but cunning and is adept in combining these two traits in his proclamations. Since tiflings are usually lower class labor types, but also poor and destitute, Bazarrali Thrune can declare that a certain substance (alcohol, drugs, alchemical reagent, magic item, ect.) or event (entertainment, transportation, location/celebration) has caused Kintargo's resident Tiflings to become lazy and unproductive, and this restricts tiflings from this substance/event. His hope is that the Tiflings will begin turning more to crime in order to obtain this substance, and in turn begin preying on the rest of Kintargo's citizens (prohibition style). Unfortunately, it works and a new band of Tiflings begin to make the rest of the Devil's Nursery look bad. The PCs can come in and break up this Tifling gang or maybe absorb them depending on play style.
3.)The Devil's Nursery is full of tiflings, and as such weird looking folks are the rule rather than the exception. This can give or sorts of other exotic humanoids the ability to blend in and go about unnoticed (Nagaji, Half-(insert-monster-here), particularly well disguised orcs/goblinoids, individuals under feature altering curses, ect.). One group of these creatures begins to prey upon the residents and then slipping back into the crowd, and has struck fear in the hearts of the residents of the Devil's Nursery, and the PCs decide to take that individual out.
4.) You can still use the abandoned building with a monster in it idea, but instead of a dead child or tooth pulling monsters, add a different reason. Perhaps the witch decided to conjure fiendish dogs using a slain family pet as the ritual focus, or used necromancy to create undead, or trapped the last emotional residue of the fearful victims to create self animating knives that lash out at those around them if they feel any above average heat nearby.
Hope these helped out, best of luck with your adventure.
