So, maybe this isn't really being constructive here, but... Aren't you kind of going outside of Pathfinder RAW to begin with if you're bringing in Celestial Armor? I mean, if this was a PFS legal option, I could at least sort of understand why this question would come up, even if I feel the answer is blatantly obvious myself.

So I guess what I'm saying here is that do whatever ruling works for your game. This isn't really something that needs an official answer in my mind.

The question was: "what happens to the weight of Celestial Armor if it goes into an Antimagic field?"

The answer is very relevant, since it could cause a character to either become encumbered or start taking a nonproficiency penalty, or both. This is relevant to the game RAW. The answer to that question just happens to inadvertently also answer the question about the material being switched.

See my previous point about going with what works in your game. It seems you have your mind somewhat made up about this already. If that's the case, why are you asking this question?

Because I don't know what the actual rules are and I want to?

I mean you're really getting into some existentialist "why ask any questions ever" territory.

The bit about Celestial Armor actually could be relevant to PFS.

We do know what the rules are on this, though. Celestial Armor weighs 20 pounds.

To claim anything else would be a houserule.

The section is titled something along the lines of [Pricing New Items] and is very much RAW.

Having a rule (and that rule is well known) exist, does not answer the question of whether or not that rule applies and how it applies to every item. Unless you can find a list of named items with information on how they can be modified.

In summary:

  • You can modify named items by working with your GM
  • Your GM determines what can be changed
  • If your GM says material can't be changed, you can't say "that isn't RAW".

There is no RAW on what happens to a Celestial Armor in an AMF, period. Every determination of the result is a GM making a call on his understanding of the rules. Every GM would be making a call on whether or not you can change the material or not. Neither are strictly RAW.

Long time ago this same whole argument could have taken place, ironically, about Elven Chain Mail, as initial near as I can remember it the material it was made of was also not clearly identified ... it was merely very finely and artistically crafted suit of chainmail which happened to be made by the Elves in the world of Greyhawk. It wasn't until sometime down the road that it was stated to be made of Mithral.

Removed some back and forth posts. It's completely possible to discuss a rules question without getting personal. We understand rules and mechanics can get hairy to discuss, but be civil to each other please.
