Howdie folks a quick question. As most Aasimar Race traits from Blood of Angels are still legal for play can I pick them up via the Adopted Social Trait as long as I own Blood of Angels?

I believe they are only legal if aasimar is a legal race for your character, so you would need an aasimar boon attached to the character. Seems like kind of a waste.

I'm not certain on that at all, though; anyone else?

So you mean that race traits from non allowed races are generally off bounds even if they are in legal sourcebooks that do not include the APG clause?

I believe that to be the case, yes. Again, not 100% sure.

Looking over the Additional Resources has brought me no closer to understanding. :/

I beg to differ with Kalindlara.

The AR says " Traits: all traits on pages 30-31 are legal except ethical leader. Clergy member is useable once per scenario instead of once per week. Faith healer may be used for Day Job checks."

There is nothing in the Blood of Angels entry that says anything except making an Assimar character is restricted to needing a boon.

I compare that to Blood of Elements which has this statement "Note: Racial feats, racial traits, and racial spells are only available for characters of the assigned race."

So without some other source indicating otherwise I'd say a human could take adopted to get access to Assimar racial traits.

I tend to agree with Jessex here, so yes you can take adoped: aasimar for enlightend warrior and be a neutral or neutral good monk.

Here is the exact same discussion, 6 months earlier.

Bottom line: you can take Adopted on your character to pick up an aasimar race trait from Blood of Angels.

Just make sure you know the difference between Race traits and Racial traits...

In addition to The Fox's link, James Jacobs echoes the same clarification HERE.

Thanks folks!

You cannot take traits and such from a race you cannot legally have, even if you have a feat or trait that gives you something from another race.

You'll note, that conversation never had an official responce, and Nefreet saying something absolutely does not make it so. So linking to that conversation proves nothing.

Oh, excellent! Good to know. I had never heard this before.

Surely you'll be able to point out the section of the Guide, Additional Resources, FAQ, or quote from Campaign Leadership that states this?

Thanks.

The AR says differently. Just contract Blood of Angels and Blood of Elements.

A once-and-for-all, official clarification on this would be great.

(If they could establish exactly how Racial Heritage works across sources at the same time, that would be even more awesome.)

A PFS FAQ really would be very welcome here.

Official Clarification on taking race traits from non-available races with adopted.

Side note on Tiefling race traits specific to heritages.

Now, does anybody want to come over? I've got a new board game I want to try out but a baby that's hard to escape from.

Fair enough. Thank you. ^_^
