STEP THROUGH, bruh. How you gon step through when you can't STEP?
Well, if you were a Druid/Arcanist who was wildshaped into a shark and were in the water, I'm sure you could still use Dimensional Slide, even though you weren't "stepping" anywhere.
Use of Dimensional Slide counts as movement, but as Crimeo pointed out, it doesn't necessarily count as land-speed movement.

Since Dimensional Slide Does count as part of your regular movement, what if you are the one in control of the grapple? Let's say you turned Invisible and DimSlid behind your target, making your Stealth Check. Then you Initiated a Grapple as a Standard Action then used Greater Grapple to Move your target to a pre-arranged tactical location, where presumably the rest of the party would be there to throw him a beating. This could be a pretty good way to perpetrate a kidnapping.

Since Dimensional Slide opens up a crack in space, is the Arcanist the only thing that passes through it? What if my Druid/Arcanist Wildshaped into a Shark sees a coastal forest fire. Can she open up Dimensional slide over the trees and allow the water to pour through the hole and start dousing the fire? Probably not because Rules and Magic, but it strikes me as funny to think about.

Arcanist is 1/2 BAB and generally doesn't have a good CMB. If you are successfully doing this, it probably means it is against an opponent far below your own CR.

Or if you are a martial character who is only dipping into Arcanist to get Dimensional Slide?
