PFS Fame and equipment questions

Advice

I think I know the answers to this but still have some doubt. Does your fame score allow the purchase of magical items that are equal to or lower than your fame score on the PFS guide? Even if they haven't been acquired through chronicle sheets from PFS modules? Also if you have a +1 darkwood composite long bow and wanted to add acid to it does the damage increase by 1d6 or do you need acid arrows to that?

As a valued employee of the Pathfinder Society, you are entitled to certain perks:

The 'Commissary':

  • Basic equipment (i.e., items on the 'always available' list) is available for purchase at any time you happen to be near one of our facilities (If you are exploring a distant ruin, you are probably out of luck until you get back to town).
  • As you gain Fame with the Society, more advanced items of a magical nature will be made available for you to purchase.
  • All such sales are strictly 'cash only': No advances or financing plans are available.
  • Employees who have Prestige can use it to acquire minor items regardless of current Fame (1 item of up to 150g value for 1 PP, or 1 item of up to 750g for 2 PP). Each acquisition must be a single item and has a 0g value for resale purposes.
  • The commissary is sadly limited to only items that actually exist in this reality (PFS Campaign legal items only).
  • Employees are required to acquire their own instruction manuals (you need to own the sourcebook the item appears in).

The 'Finders Keepers' policy:

  • Any items you find while working for PFS must be turned into the Society upon concluding the mission.
  • In exchange, the PFS will compensate you for your efforts (Gold!!!).
  • If you would like to keep an item you found (i.e., it appears on your Chronicle sheet), the Commissary will be happy to sell it to you at any time thereafter (in fact, multiple times in most cases) regardless of your fame.

Regarding Magic Bows, you can usually enchant either the bow or the arrows, but normally you just enchant the Bow itself.

  • Typically, enchanting a bow with a +1d6 damage power imparts that effect on every arrow you shoot.
  • While you technically can put the enchant directly on the arrows themselves, that quickly becomes too expensive to be practical (arrows are enchanted in batches of 50, but you basically only get one shot with each, so each shot you take costs you a hundred or more gold)
  • If you do want to enchant your arrows, you still need to enchant them to '+1' before giving them any additional effects.
  • Not all weapon properties can be put on missile weapons (or its projectiles, for that matter).

Yes.

Your next question is "doesn't that make chronicle sheet loot kinda pointless since your fame score is high enough anyway?" and the answer is yes (unless you're a member of the exchange and can get a discount)

Either one works. I'd try to get more +s with the bow though, lots of things can resist ad6 points of acid.

I kind of thought those were the answers but sometimes doubt creeps in and makes you rethink something. thanks guys
