Medusa Immunity

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

I have a high level PFS character whose backstory is that he married a Medusa (it fits into a multi-part game he played). For flavor purposes I wanted to purchase an item or take a feat that makes him immune to her gaze. Either something that makes him immune to petrification or gaze attacks. I have found an item that gives him bonuses, but I want something that would give him immunity. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Being blind would do it. Then the character would have to get Blind Fight and all its prerequisites.

At higher levels, the Living Monolith prestige class gives you immunity to petrification without needing to be blind, but in other respects it seems rather underwhelming, and I'm not even sure it is PFS legal.

Also, if you are a Dwarf, being a Stonelord Paladin eventually gets you petrification immunity, and is.a.better class, but again I'm not sure about the PFS legality.

A dagger. Stab your eyes out.

Hue.

The associated save is fort, right? Be an undead. They are immune to all fort saves that don't target objects.

Oh wait, PFS. Nope.

Pretty sure that stonelord paladin is allowed.

Yeah, PFS is pretty restrictive.

^Oh that's right, I forgot about Undead. Being a Construct would also give you immunity to a Medusa's gaze attack, but I don't think any of the Construct races (Wyrwood) are PFS legal.

Also, a bit more on Stonelord Paladin and Living Monolith: Both get you petrification immunity at class level 9, but since Living Monolith is a prestige class that cannot be entered before 6th level (and possibly later, due to BASB +5 requirement), this means at least character level 14, which is after PFS mandatory retirement. That said, if you choose the ib stone option, it progresses spellcasting except for a delay at 1st level, so it is only somewhat underwhelming for a spellcaster (and could actually be not too shabby (although still not exactly great) for a Cleric or Wizard or certain other builds of other spellcasters, but this pushes 9th level of the prestige class far away enough that you probably aren't going to get there in PFS even with some unusual boon.

Stonelord Paladin, on the other hand, doesn't require anything to precede it, because it is a base class -- you just have to be a strictly Lawful Good Dwarf. So if The class is PFS legal, and you survive long enough, you WILL get your petrification immunity a few levels before enforced retirement, even with no boons.

You are overthinking this.

Have the Medusa wife own a magic blindfold/mask that grants her magical vision.

Her gaze attack is negated, plus she gets to play dressup every day. :D

We actually had this situation in one of our games, it wasn't expensive to make, I think it was just something crafted based off of Darkvision?
