Tattoo Attunement on Eidolon?

As a Summoner, can I use the ability granted by the Tattoo Attunement feat to transform my Eidolon into a tattoo on my body? I don't necessarily see a huge benefit to doing so but it adds some potentially interesting flavor.

It's a gray area. I think the feat refers to monster summoned using Summon Monster X spells (or the spell like ability that works like them).

There is not a clearly defined difference between the two types of summoning but I think RAI there might be.

Regardless, there wouldn't be much of an advantage in it anyways, so it's probably not a problem.

About the only useful thing is that you could hide and resummon your eidolon quickly without needing to spend a full minute for the summoning ritual.

Tattoo attunement states any creature you summon can be the target. Summoners summon, as opposed to call their eidolon. With just a cursory glance, and a relative unfamiliarity with the summoner, I would say yes. You can use tattoo attunement with you eidolon.

Keep in mind that if the eidolon in question is the typically large critter that folks like to build. the tattoo you want takes up TWO or more item slots on your body. Those item slots would also be unusable on your eidolon as well.

Absolutely and those item slots have to be next to each other, ring wrist, chest body, etc.

that's not 100% true. yes magic tattoos take up a "slot" but they dont interfere with wearing another item in that slot (i.e. you can wear a ring of protection and have a tattoo ring of sustenance).

inscribe magical tattoo is where the rules for that lies and it states- "Magic tattoos must be placed on a part of the body normally able to hold a magic item slot, but they do not count against or interfere with magic items worn on those slots."

That's because each ring slot is separate.... i.e. two slots.

right but you can have 2 normal rings and 2 tattoo rings. or a foot tattoo and boots.

You are correct, magic tattoos do not use up actual magic items slots. Except of course in the case of Tattoo Attunement, the feat being discussed here.

Quote:
This tattoo takes up one magic item slot if the summoned creature is Medium or smaller, and one additional adjacent slot for each size category larger than Medium (see magical tattoos).

except where it talks about taking up a slot it specifically refers to the rules for magic tattoos. which would imply that it is referring to magic tattoo slots.

This may be the case, my initial reading was that tattoo attunement specifically to up magic item slots as a specific rule, and the rest of the rules used the standard magic tattoo rules. I wonder if this could have been written a bit clearer.

It should work for sure in conjunction with the Summon Eidolon spell.
