I was wondering how one might go about making a character similar to Artorias from the Dark Souls games. This character I'm expecting to last till level 10, maybe 15, but we'll see.
For those who do not know who he is, here's a picture. In the game, he doesn't use a shield because it was sacrificed to keep his wolf alive, just so you know.
For basic pointers, this is what he does.
- Full plate (or comparable)
- TWF: Large One-handed weapon (equivalent of a greatsword) and Large Steel Shield
- Travels through shadow/Fights the Abyss on it's own plane
- Companions a rather large wolf (imagine ogre sized. I don't need to have the wolf though. it's too op. Ends up wielding its fallen master's greatsword...because...dark souls)
So far, build wise, I've got:
- Ranger 5/Shadowdancer 5
- Slayer 5/Shadowdancer 5
- Fighter 5/Shadowdancer 5
- Stygian Slayer 20
- Any class that shadow steps long distances, or can teleport as a move/swift action
Build wise, I'm thinking of a twf sword/board shadow jaunt knight
Stat wise, if you saw my previous post about the amazing stats I rolled, you won't have to worry. 18, 18, 15, 14, 13, 12
Any thoughts?

I thought if a cleric has a shield in there other hand, they can still cast spells. Is this not correct? (if so, I've been playing a defensive cleric wrong for quite a while...)
This only applies if the spell has somatic components, I should mention.
A buckler? Yes.
A light-shield? Maybe, but oddly. You need to pass your weapon from your main-hand into your off-hand, cast the spell, and then return the main-hand weapon to your main-hand. I'm not sure if there is a listed action for this, but I've seen free action tossed around.
A heavy-shield? No.

You must have a hand free to cast a spell with somatic components. You can cast with a buckler in hand, though you lose your AC bonus from the buckler until your next turn. You can also cast by taking a free action to grab your weapon with two hands, taking a free action to let go with one of your hands (leaving that hand free), casting with your free hand, taking a free action to re-grasp the weapon with your other hand, and taking another free action to let go of it with your second hand.
If your buckler has an appropriate holy symbol on it, you can use it to cast focus components.
Verbal components can be cast with stuff in your hands without penalty.

In that case, what would you guys suggest for a two weapon fighting abundant step (or similar) build? I'd assume the character is human, but as far as getting access to dimension door, I could go full caster, or something similar. Ideas?
Edit: Actually, i found something. Solar Mystery from the Oracle, scroll down to sun stride
Luckily, my friend just so happens to have this. The only downside to this would still be the casting with a shield in the off-hand...but I could work with the buckler idea. Still, you can't shield bash with a buckler...unless you could put a shield spike on it, but I take that as a no?

If you can use Variant Multiclassing then grabbing the Wizard part and taking the Teleporation Subschool of Conjuration should let you teleport around. Much fun can be had b all.

If it is for a long term campaign, I vote for a Warpriest with the Animal and Travel Blessings.
- Full plate (or comparable)- check
- TWF: Large One-handed weapon (equivalent of a greatsword) and Large Steel Shield - A Longsword or Bastard Sword will do the trick I think
- Travels through shadow/Fights the Abyss on it's own plane - Travel Blessing at level 10
- Companions a rather large wolf (imagine ogre sized. I don't need to have the wolf though. it's too op. Ends up wielding its fallen master's greatsword...because...dark souls) - Animal Blessing at level 10
