Gather Power wrote:

Gathering power in this way allows the kineticist to reduce the total burn cost of a blast wild talent she uses in the same round by 1 point. The kineticist can instead gather power for 1 full round in order to reduce the total burn cost of a blast wild talent used on her next turn by 2 points (to a minimum of 0 points).

Supercharge (Su): At 11th level, when using gather power as a move action, a kineticist can reduce the total burn cost of a single wild talent by 2 points instead of 1. When using gather power for 1 full round, she can reduce the burn cost of a single wild talent by 3 points instead of 2.

Does the Kineticist's Supercharge have the same limitations as Gather Power?

Gather power is limited to blast wild talents only. Supercharge does not share the blast limiter on the wild talents it can reduce. Can you use supercharge to reduce the burn cost of utility wild talents?

No, you can't. Sometimes upgrades to abilities lack the full restriction text of the ability they modify. It can be a bit of a nuisance, but they still apply. Mark has been asked repeatedly about reducing burn on utility talents like Kinetic Healer, and the answer has consistently been "no" and "no, only with your buffer".

No. You can only reduce the cost of something that Gather Power already reduces by 1 (or 2 via a full round).

The key isn't single wild talent but rather: by 2 points instead of 1. If Gather power isn't reducing by 1, then Supercharge isn't reducing by 2.

I agree, but I have seen someone arguing that you could. I'd rather have a clear no than ambiguous rules text.

I agree with Imbicatus and all the rest, the ability is not supposed to allow such. Considering how nuts editing went to include the full term "blast wild talent" in all other instances this was likely just an oversight. Still, it will need official clarification to prevent the arguments about infinite healing, invisibility, haste etc.

Invisibility is already infinite. :P

Supercharge isn't a new ability, it's an upgrade to Gather Power. All the normal restrictions apply.

They probably cut the word "Blast" from the text on Supercharge so they could cram another couple words in somewhere else.

Arachnofiend and Calathos are correct. Only blast wild talents.

Consider the following two abilities that I just made up for a good parallel:

Not Real Abilities wrote:

Melee Focus: A meleer fighter gains Weapon Focus in all melee weapons, gaining a +1 bonus on attack rolls with those weapons.

Improved Melee Focus: A meleer fighter's Melee Focus ability grants a +2 bonus on weapon attack rolls instead of a +1.

Note how the second ability doesn't say melee weapon, but it still only applies to melee weapons. Supercharge is still using gather power. All restrictions to gather power apply.
