Need help with 3rd-level spell for Bladebound Kensai

Advice

Scarab Sages

Here's the composition of our Party.

- A Sword and Tower Shield Fighter.
- A Rogue with 5 Con who'll soon turn into a zombie werewolf.
- A Channel Expert Cleric with tower shield. (Who doesn't have tower shield proficiency)

I'm a Bladebound Kensai who just leveled up to seven, which will allow me to take one 3rd level spell via my Int's Bonus.

My gut reaction suggests that I should either take Fireball or Haste though I'm uncertain of which spell would benefit our group the most

Hence, I'd like to hear from you guys.

If you have other 3rd-level magus spell in mind, I'd like to hear it as well.

Thanks in advance :)

A little round about but you could take the Extra Arcana feat, pick up spell blending, and then use that to get heroism.

Haste is a great party buff, but remember it does not give YOU an extra attack while using spell combat. Apparently they changed that ruling at some point. Haste is just as viable as heroism is then, you will be your fighter and rouge's best friend.

Haste it is then. Thanks :)

Haste or fly are my 2 choices.
On increases combat effiency and one is amazing utility and can end encounters. Fly + ranged attacks wins.

If it were me, I would get haste via boots. My vote for a third level spell would be Force Hook Charge, or Vampiric Touch. Though I think the first is awesome for flavor and doing cool things.

Spell combat force hook charge, use your boots to haste you up and you will be flying around the battlefield full attacking.

I do have craft wonderous item feat. Perhaps I can craft Boot of Speed using my haste spell and some gold?

Usually as a Magus I would hope that someone else in the party can do the haste, but you are the guy in this case, and there isn't a better 3rd level spell in the game. Arguably, there isn't a 4th level spell that is better than haste either so that is the obvious choice.

Force hook charge and vampiric touch are also great Magus spells, but neither will be even a fraction of the effectiveness of haste in almost every circumstance.

Haste is good for everyone not just you.

The fighter will love it. Casting it on a group is what makes it so good. Getting boots is great but that keeps everyone else from getting haste.

As crafting wonderous goes add +5 to craft DC if you didn't take haste as a spell known.

Get Haste... it makes you AND your group which is full of melee types that much better, as opposed to boots for just yourself.

You have a spellbook. It only costs 135 gold to pay an NPC to copy the spell from them and into your spellbook. You could have all of the spells mentioned in this thread and still have almost all your gold left over.

I already have haste and fireball on my spell known list, so I should be fine with crafting it at normal craft DC.
