Post-apocalyptic world never looked so good. Honestly, this was my second favorite video out of E3 (Andromeda being the number 1.)
Also, getting strong Numeria-vibes from this world. And I like that.

Interesting one you've found. Kind has a mix of Enslaved and Last of Us mixed into the story, but you are right that setting has a very Numeria-like feel.
I wonder if they are going to give an explanation of what happened, or is it just background for a different story they want to tell.

Sometimes less is definitely more.
Agreed; that mystery could be just as effective as background than as part of the main plot. Look at zombie-movies; 90% deal with the aftermath - it's not what happened to make everyone zombies; much more "what do you now" kind of a thing.
That being said, the self-aware robo-dinosaurs element makes me think "rouge AI" apocalypse idea - a notion kind of touched on in Iron Gods AP.

Oh, and it apparently also has a dynamic day and night-cycle. That's always cool, and with open world foraging and hunting should really bring some interesting tactic options for taking down some of the machines. I looked quickly for some information, and main reason the robot animals are hunted is to get parts for equipment like weapons and stuff like that.
Guerrilla Games also promised that loading screens will not be included in the game.

Other than the slightly cliche 'Everything on Earth was much better once all the humans died, except for the last humans, who had to deal with the horrible machines there ancestors left behind' story it looks kinda cool.
And I have all the consoles bar the One, and a decent gaming rig, so I'm shiny.

Just to rub some salt to the old wounds here is new gameplay video of Horizon: Zero Dawn. Still a exclusive, dang nabbit. Also "Aloy's Journey" trailer looks magnificent as well.
Looks hella cool though. I am gonna play this, one way or the other. This pushes too many buttons for me.

I started playing this again to try out the Ultra Hard mode. Last time I played was on Normal mode, so this was definitely a step up.
I decided not to read too much into the changes before starting so I'm learning a lot as I go.
No enemy health bars
-First kills are usually a lot of experimentation for medium size and larger machines. Gotta find out exactly how many weaknesses I need to exploit or how much life they will have left after I exploit them all.
No HP regen from resting
-I could have swore this was a thing on Normal mode, but I'm a little unsure. Be sure to carry lots of potions and keep that medicine bar topped up.
No Aim Assist
-Lead your targets
Greatly Increased Aggression
-Just trying to run away from an encounter won't work. They will keep chasing you, or at least they did for me.
Much Higher Awareness
-Sneaking is harder, luring is harder. Don't whistle at an enemy looking for you, they will almost always go from yellow to red. They also alert there buddies more, so prepare.
Higher Damage
-Poor little Shield-Weaver armor can only absorb one good attack, and even then you might still take damage. Here is hoping it gets an upgrade.
Over-prepare the battlefield - there is no kill like overkill.
Stealth is unreliable - Hope for a kill or two, but it might not always work.
No mercy - Don't be afraid to use the fun ammunition.
Marking - To differentiate between multiple enemies of the same type I'll mark one to serve as an indicator.
Anyone else taken the plunge into Ultra Hard mode?

One of the best games this year. It never got boring in 75 hours or so of play. Great story (you get most of it toward the end), the best looking graphics on console (4k on the pro), very DIFFERENT weapons (all of which felt useful).
Loved this game from start to finish. HZD and TLOU are now my two favorite console games of all time. YMMV, but can't wait for the expansion.

I took a break from this after clearing out the "Ring of Metal" and blowing the blaze cache.
Finished up some older games I had sitting around and got back into it again last night.
I've unlocked the gates to Meridian but I've decided to make trips to Cauldrons a priority.
I made myself a little challenge; kill a Thunderjaw. This is now just a waste of resources. I guess if you need a powerful coil or weave this might be useful, or a Thunderjaw lens/heart.
Not worth it now. Took over a dozen tearblast arrows, half of my medicine cache, a health potion, and most of the explosives from my sling. I guess it could have gone worse, but the payout just isn't there any more.

Finished the Cauldrons. Wasn't too bad, and the Thunderjaw at the end of the last one was once again a fun fight.
Fought a Stormbird because it was near an area I needed to be in. Darned thing definitely took the trophy for most annoying enemy to kill. If I didn't need those Stormbird hearts I'd just override them all.

So far my only issues with progressing quests and clearing out enemies involves corrupted enemies. Some of them are strong enough to break a Shield-Weaver and take off half your life in one go.
Perhaps I should just find all the side quests that aid the completion of the final battle and do those and skip the rest.

Alright, finished beating this on Ultra-Hard Sunday afternoon.
The cosmetic items you unlock are mildly interesting, but the challenge was the big draw.
Once again I remember why I love this game so much and hope that Guerrilla Games is able to keep up the same level as quality with later releases.
Well, back to the shelf it goes, at least until the expansion drops later this year.

Been enjoying playing the PC version of this, which came out a couple of weeks ago. A bit of a flaky port (some of the early problems have already been fixed, which was nice) but overall good stuff. The worldbuilding and story are excellent and the game ties together the main story, side-quests, optional side-stuff and even the collectables together in a way that makes 100%ing the game quite appealing, which is never the case usually for me in these kind of games. I also like its sense of focus (pun intended): you can focus on the main storyline and a few side-quests and finish it off in 30 hours but if you do everything you can make it last a lot longer.
