I'm looking for interesting, innovative ways to play an archer with some skill points and out of combat utility. I know bards make good archers but we're likely to have one, possibly even two, bards in our party for the upcoming AP so I don't want to go that route myself. Being that Skald is part Bard, is nice and skilly with an attractive spell list and brings different songs to the table, any thoughts on whether this could be viable and how I could best make it happen?

Depending on whether or not you are allowed to select Unchained rage powers, Reckless Stance might be worth considering to help boost your accuracy, as a ranged character you should be more capable of dealing with the AC loss.
Also, a tuned bowstring might be neat. Combine it with Skald's Vigor, and you have unlimited fast healing as long as you shoot an arrow every round.

A Skald with an Adaptive Composite Longbow (read: every Skald ever, because if you can use a composite longbow, you should get one!) definitely appreciates Raging Song, and his Str-based buddies will appreciate it as well. It's not as good as Inspire Courage for him, but it's not like he doesn't get any use from it.
I also seem to recall some kind of bowstring that refreshed bardic performance/raging song rounds per day, but I can't think of where I heard about that.
