Sweet.
So, I managed to wean off sugar in almost all my tea to stevia! That means after about 120 cups I should lose a single pound! [/fakeexcitement]
Actually I'm trying to cut back on sugary stuff, in general, for a multitude of health reasons. I am proud of this, though, not because of it's individual health benefits, but as a reflection of my own disciple. The last major act of self disciple I actually stuck to was vegetarianism, and that was so long ago it's not even an effort for me anymore. (Veganism didn't fare as well. Four attempts, the longest of which lasted 8 months. Dangit I love cheese far too much! But considering the transitory health benefits from veggie to vegan are minimal, I'm not too upset to fail at that.)
Also, I think my wife is serious about that vacation to the Bigelow factory, which would be sweet!
That's all I have for tea news. It's been barren here, as I'm trying to not have caffeine after noon, and peppermint tea is not exciting enough to share on a regular basis.
I need to get more Rooibos.

Captain Yesterday fun fact: I lived in Seattle for four years, worked at a coffee shop even, never once had a single cup of coffee, not once :-)
In fact I never had a cup of coffee until I was 28, now?... well let's just say if anyone takes away my coffee, I will burn everything to the ground:-D
Dangit, man, why didn't you steal black coffee gamer before that villain repeatedly besmurching our clique took it? It would even fit the tea commandments I posted earlier as our ally!

New avatars for the original and proper grammatical format alias!
First time I've actually changed my aliasavatar since I joined the Paizo boards. I originally just chose something without a lot of users to Stand out. Now I chose some nifty plant based avatars to more accurately fit my handle.
I wonder how many people I'll throw off without my little armored guy avatar.
So...while we wait on Beernorg to link the discussion page...who wants collaborative group backstory and synergistic team based builds?

The sad part is, with working in construction in a college town, with a highly successful football team, I've worked with hundreds of TheRedbulljackandCokegamer in the last 10 years here :-)
I had fraternity member roommates in college. I'm familiar with the douchebaggery. :-/

The tea of the moment is Ceylon with peach and apricot. I think I either let the bag steep for too long, or this is a tea that calls for sugar... Well, I'm trying to lose weight, so it's not getting any of that.
Other than that, I've got nothing much going on. The only new thing in my life is that two days ago I was coerced to do something active to lose weight rather than just replacing my soda consumption with tea, which is what I've been doing for the past two months or so. Oh, and I completed that pesky Zelda game that was eating up all my time last time I posted :)

One thing to remember, a teaspoon of sugar is only 17 calories. One in your tea can make it sweet enough to satisfy a craving while not destroying a diet.

I've been working on potty training with the Young T-Rex of Summer, I was expecting more of a fight, but it's been going great, he has embraced both the toilet and the age old cliche of tree peeing
I'm envious, tree peeing is not practical when you don't have the proper equipment for it :(

As promised, link to PbP thread.

I guess step one is me preping some plot, and you lads an or lasses getting characters written up if not already done, a little back story would be helpful, and Goloarion is our setting, anyone have a part of the world they would like to explore but have never had the chance? Feel free to post all PbP related stuff to the new thread.

Technically, with enough pressure built up, the proper angle, and some excellent abdominal strength, you too can do it.
Oh, and I'm gonna just linkify the heck out of that URL for Beernorg.

I have a question for you guys. I have been using a black mug for a while, but just switched to a light grey one where you can actually see the colour of the tea, and somehow the tea seems to be more enjoyable like this. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me being weird/delusional?
Never underestimate the power of perspective. Presentation most assuredly affects flavor in food and drink, almost as much as scent.
Our minds affect everything about us so much that statistical studies have to account for placebo effects in everything.

I think you're right - I've started using toughened glass cups instead of china and that *seems* to make things taste better, not to mention making it very, very easy to see the colour of whatever you happen to be drinking...

thesenchagamer |

Interesting. I think I shall take care not to buy dark/black tea cups for the future, unless they're still light in colour on the inside. Maybe I'll give the glass cups a chance some day, but the entire concept of hot tea in a glass cup is still strange to me. Plus I usually have cold fingers, so I like to heat my hands on my tea cup, and the glass ones just seem like they'd get much, much too hot to touch.

Material certainly plays a part. For example, with soda, the taste is different in glass, plastic, or aluminum. I prefer water out of a stainless steel bottle or canteen - no idea why.
I switched all my cheap plastic cups from college to glass or ceramic after I married and moved in with my wife, and I'm never going back. She was like:
Wifey - "You're an adult. Please drink like one."
Me - "But they're cheap, and if I drop them, they don't break!"
Wifey - (Says nothing. Has boobs. Wins argument automatically.)
Me - "Holy moley, this tastes so much better!"
Wifey - (Not the type of person to say I told you so.)
Me - "I will never doubt your chest again!"
Wifey - "What?!"
Me - "Nevermind."

Oh no, I'm less than an inch from the bottom of my sencha tea-caddy. It's only been a month and a half, where did those 200g go? Now I have to start thinking about getting more already.
It's not a tea shop, but the owner of a Japanese store mostly dealing in tableware told me she was importing some tea from Japan (sencha, shincha, genmaicha, mugicha...), and she'd have it in store some time this month... The problem is, I don't know when, and a trip there takes at least 45 minutes each way and isn't exactly free either. I hope she's not going to sell it too fast if I don't get the timing right visiting, because I will try that shincha; it is the first—and supposedly best—sencha harvest of the year, so it'd be a shame to miss out.

I have heard rumors that a strange and mysterious device exists called ... a telephone. :-) You could use it to call the nice lady at the store and ask her when she expects her next shipment of tea in. ;-)

But she doesn't have a website, so I'd have to google her number and... well, she did actually say that she was expecting it towards the end of the month. Hopefully my supply shall last until then.

It is also said that back in the dim mists of time before the oceans drank Atlantis and Arnold Schwarzenegger started running around with a sword that they had these things called phone books. :-) I don't know how they do things where you're from, but every year they drop a couple of them off at my apartment.
At any rate, if you can get your hands on a phone book that should help you deal with a nice old fogey type lady who might have neither a web site nor a google listing.

Shhh, I'm making excuses.
