My buddy has finally nudged me into putting forth this idea on the messageboards.
The campaign would be a mid-level, as in starting at level 12, and will be set within the kingdom of Taldor.
In this campaign, the PCs will begin as servants of the crown, in one fashion or another, and along the way, will become embroiled in events that could either revive Taldor as a shining beacon on Golarion or spell the Empire's doom.
There will be a few select modules from Paizo utilized in this campaign, but they will be seamlessly inserted into the campaign at appropriate times instead of just carelessly dropped in at some random spot.
As for the inevitable questions of what sort of 'alternate systems' will be used in the game, assume that most of the ones from Ultimate Campaign will be used at some point. That means there will be downtime and community-building at the very least.
So, is there any interest for this sort of campaign?
Possibly! UC stuff is always interesting.
This is a cool concept and there aren't enough higher level campaigns on the pbp forum.
dot very interesting. Would you allow psionics?
Taldor is probably one of my favourite nations in the inner sea, so you can defiantly count me among the interested!
I'm thinking either...
Investigator
or
ninja
or
bard.
Leaning heavily towards first two. (if psionics is allowed, soul knife is in the top 3)
Well if you are going to say for a few years that will require this to go then count me interested.
This sounds interesting. My first two PFS characters were Taldor faction so I actually spent some time on knowing the region. Would be interesting to see if Byzantium, err I mean Taldor can regain its former glory.
Likely go for some kind of martial with an attitude of military commander.
Sanguinus_Draconis - Go ahead and post some character creation guidelines. ;)
I've often thought there should be something about Taldor's attempts to regain it's former glory. Colour me interested. Would you allow the Leadership Feat?
Dotting. May submit in a few days.
Oh, they'll be lots of interest for this game. Do you have the build rules ready? 12th level characters will take a bit of time to make.
This is a great concept. I'd like to play a sorcerer, bloodline depending on character creation guidelines. With Verdant I could build my Lorax character (though I probably wouldn't)!
I would be very interested in running a cleric, almost like a patriarch-ish feel to him.
What are the character creation guidelines? And how much cash do we start with?
I'm thinking about the Imperious bloodline, it's not the best but it is bursting with flavor for Taldor. Also, I'd take the tattooed sorcerer archetype.
Well, I certainly see that there is interest here! Let me answer a few of the pertinent questions that have been asked before I get around to recruitment.
Psionics will be allowed, because psionics are awesome.
Leadership will be allowed but apart from your cohort, the followers gained from the feat will represent contacts in Taldor society loyal to you. Your followers, once you establish a community, may be moved to said community to bolster it. As well, if the subject of mass combat, i.e. clashing armies, comes up, followers can be formed into a special militia.
I will try to have a recruitment up in a few hours. I will link it here, so if you do not find it on the list of recruitment threads, check back here soon.
What is everyone's thoughts on gestalt, by the way? I am merely curious, given that the PCs in this campaign will be VERY exceptional individuals.
Gestalt is fun to build for, but makes gauging CR appropriate combats very hard. The synergy of the classes can be all over the map.
I don't object to it, but I also don't really have a need for it.
Very well, no gestalt!
Recruitment is in the works. Should be up within an hour.
I prefer gestalt IMO. Opens up for great characters/ideas. Really its only as "overpowered" as you make it.
I'd love to play a soul knife/investigator.
Here is the recruitment thread.
Can someone check and see if their alias photo selections are down too? I can't see any pictures when I go to select one. PM me what you discover.
I was a few minutes late on getting the recruitment done, but only just!
